The people of Oregon
hereby declare that it is desirable that a central licensing institution issues
a concealed handgun carry permit annual that would permit concealed handgun
license holders carry their guns legally in all counties in Oregon with
restriction.
So take the current CHL issuing
responsibility away from duly elected county sheriffs and give it to a central
licensing institution? I don’t think so.
The person in charge of this new
central licensing institution would surely be appointed – not elected. You can bet your butt that this person would
be an anti-gun puppet of the ruling party in Salem too.
Imagine the rest of the staff at this
new licensing institution. Imagine the whole
new set of requirements for getting a CHL too.
The burden of the annual renewal requirement mentioned in the
text above should give you a pretty good idea of what they have in mind.
The people of Oregon hereby declare that it is desirable
that all gun owners in Oregon declare through the Oregon state police who would
inherit their guns and ammunitions upon death and in the event that there is none
to inherit the guns upon death. The guns
would become property of the State. Such
guns would be auction by the state and proceeds will be used to improve law
enforcement in Oregon.
Owners of legally purchased firearms
and ammunition in Oregon will now be required to register all firearms and ammunition with the OSP?
I don’t think so.
Unless heirs are specified, OSP becomes
the default heir to all of the deceased’s guns and ammo to sell off for OSP’s
own profit? No constitutional violation
or conflict of interest there . . . What about deceased’s car? Does the DMV get to sell that and pocket the
money? What about the deceased’s
moustache wax? Does the governor get
that for his own use? Maybe the governor
can move his morally upstanding fiancée into the deceased’s house.
The people of Oregon hereby declare that it is desirable
that 50% of funds generated through concealed handgun licensing be used to
improve law enforcement in Oregon.
Under the current system, a new four-year
CHL costs $65 and a renewal costs $50.
If the anti-gunners in Salem decide to forego the central licensing
institution and keep the CHL issuing process with the local sheriffs (where it
belongs), our CHL rates would double.
The sheriffs are covering their costs
with the current fees and would have to double them just to pay the required
50% into the new law enforcement fund.
Oregon CHL holders on fixed incomes and
those with limited financial means would not be able to afford this price
increase. They would be denied their
legal right to carry a concealed firearm.
This is poll tax and is a longtime favorite tool of Jim Crow Democrats.
The people of Oregon hereby declare that it is desirable
that all information concerning concealed handgun license holders be private
and only open to the state.
Oregon CHL information is already
private and not available for public viewing.
Several attempts by various Oregon newspapers to publish CHL holder
names have been rejected.
Keeping CHL holder information with only
the issuing county sheriff is a good way to make sure private information stays
private.
State involvement will surely lead to
CHL holder names and home addresses being "accidentally” leaked to the press.
The people of Oregon hereby declare that it is desirable
that all concealed handgun holders submit a mental health report from their
physicians as part of conditions to qualify to hold a concealed handgun carry
permit.
Yet again, this is another poll
tax. People who cannot afford to go get
a physician’s note will be denied their legal right to a CHL.
As soon as this passes, every single Oregon
CHL holder immediately becomes mentally unfit and ineligible for a CHL unless
they can provide the central licensing institution with a report from their
physicians. All currently valid permits
are null and void and each CHL holder is guilty until proven innocent by a physician’s
note.
What does the central licensing
institution consider mentally unfit? PTSD? How about something as benign as treatment
for a two-week bout of depression over the death of a loved one 30 years prior?
How about something as common as ADD?
Putting this kind of decision making
power in the hands of anti-gunners is like putting Nazis in charge of travel
arrangements for Jews.
