Does anyone know the history of the army using the Catoosa range?

I am going back through some genealogy stuff and have pictures of a relative there. The time frame would be around WWI.

I attended the state championship there in 1989 for rifles and machine guns. I was on the battalion rifle team (1-122nd INF (TLAT).

1-108th Armor had a large presence there in the 80s-90s. I was able to TC an M1 tank from Calhoun to Catoosa up I-75 in 1992. Main gun over the front running 60mph up the interstate with nine other M1s was pretty cool. We took up the emergency and slow lane with Georgia State Patrol supporting us.

Some trivia - the Catoosa facility is in GA but is managed by the TN ARNG.

Good stories.

Looks like ROTC was authorized by the Feds in 1916.
