Thanks guys,I am going to do my other ones too. I like the minimalist approach with these. The ones done all over I don't care for. I did areas only touched by skin when gripping the mag,I will check when they are in my carry rig and add any as needed.

Make sure you keep the room ventilated. Don't want you breathing in the melted plastic vapor.

there was a thread in refinishing a couple days back with a lot of pics of stippled mags. It got me to thinking about designs to do myself
I don't remember who started it now or if I tagged it eta here it is |

Nice!
That's a good idea for when you have mags loaded with different ammo for different purposes. For instance, anti-personnel and barrier penetrator rounds. During lowlight conditions the texture will help you ID the mags you want/need. When I was a SWAT Sniper, I had one HS Precision 10rd mag loaded with a barrier penetrator load. The mags were metal, so I coated that particular may with Brownell's spray grit so I could find it at night. |

Quick question for the HTF, if I were to add a PMAG or polymer stippling service onto my business, would anyone be interested? How much would I even charge for that?

Whats your time worth? Thats the thing. It can be time consuming, maybe enough so its not worth it as a business prospective, but then again, you could be like a stippling savant or something and rock them out fast enough to be worth it.
I do the same thing to KAC rail panels. ( yes I still use those) and I took a screw and checkered the head, and it can go pretty fast, 10 times faster than with a point tip. It gives it a very even and fine texture too. I can checker you a few screw or bolt heads that fit in your soldering iron if you want, makes it easy, and faster. Just let me know, I can do them in 2-3 minutes. Find some different headed ones that you verified fit in your iron, and its done. |

I stippled a few of my pmags and going to do some KAC panels. Already ground the grooves off one and stippled it, just seems to take forever with a flat head tip on the iron. I'v seen people who do a kac sets for like 45$ including panels, not enough cash to be worth it to me.

I leave the grooves on, and an 11 rib panel takes about 30 minutes for me watching tv. Rough guess on time to do a mag with a big tip would be 15 minutes?

One of the members here showed me an outstanding stippling setup that he uses. He uses a small handheld butane torch that has removable heads that screw on. He bought bolts of the same thread pattern and checkered the heads of the bolts. This allows him to stipple large areas in a minimum of time. He has different size bolt heads, including some that he ground to shape/size for specific jobs. Works like a champ.

Well since I already do stenciling and such, I can easily do patterns and designs too.

looks nice.
I used a 3m traction tape and cut the shapes. Yours looks faster. |
