Larry Munson, the legendary voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, passed away Sunday afternoon UGA officials have confirmed.
He was 89.

Although
he was hired as the Atlanta Braves' initial broadcast team in 1966, the
beloved Munson was of course known for being the "voice of the Georgia
Bulldogs," which he did to the joy and admiration for generations of
Georgia fans until he retired in 2008.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Not a GA fan but he was the voice of the Bulldogs, and will always be remembered that way. RIP Larry.

i have missed him since he left. I have actually enjoyed some of the local commercials he has been doing since his retirement. I just enjoyed hearing his voice on the radio. I grew up watching the games on TV muted and the radio blaring. He will be missed.

People will speak of Larry Munson and his decades calling the play by play for the Georgia Bulldogs. Few will speak of his serving as an Army Medic during WWII. There are few more a noble deed than to help a fellow man that is wounded and suffering.

The Dawg Nation has lost a legend. He won us one more division before he left us.

He will be remembered for his personality and ability to paint a visual
picture, a visual picture described as only a true Silver Britches fan
could.

The great voice and one true Bulldog fan.

R.I.P. ya old Dog!
