Does this happen at all ranges? Do people do this because they can rent a gun? Hell, why can't they put it on credit and take it home?

I do see your point though

So sad that someone would reach that kind of low, but it sure sucks that he would do it in a business instead of at home. He must have hated Nick's like most of the people here seem to. He might have kept them from making some sales. |

I don't mind nicks. There like most shops, not super friendly unless your buying something but after awhile and you get to know them there not bad. I have been to alot worse. Hi cal may be the exception but they haven't been broken in yet. WAY to nice lol. |

Because they have a history of mental illness and get kicked out when they try to purchase. Only way to stop it is to preform a NICS check to rent but everyone else will holler bloody murder if they have to do that just to rent. |

I posted this up in GD to see if this was happening around the country. The scary part is that it is happening all over.
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=995078 Some of the guys ideas are to not rent to people who come in alone without a gun. Either you are with two or more people, or you have your own gun. Then they will rent to you. I think thats a pretty good idea. |

Sometimes I wish I had chance to sit down and talk to these fellows before the incidents. I wonder if they talk to anyone and evaluate their options before deciding to do this...or if they just jump into it so fast that they don't give it a second thought.

Almost everyone taking a beginners pistol class comes in alone and without a gun as well.
I go to Bullseye in Lawrenceville all the time without a gun and walk up to the counter and say "I will take that Colt 9mm SMG, and five boxes of bullets." If they had that rule, I would have to bring another gun with me just to rent a machine gun. A better idea is to ask them "How many rounds of ammo do you need?" If they answer "One round should do it..." Then call the police... |

Wonder if he was too cheap (even knowing he would die) to buy a gun and go home it do it so he rented one instead and did it there?
