Wife and I are looking for somewhere semi private to shoot. We belong to an Izzak Walton league range in WV and would like something along that line. We don't want to have to compete with every Tom, Dick and Sally for range time or space.

We both work at evening and nights so we'd like to be able to shoot in the late morning during the week.

We mostly shoot handguns but do some AR and shotgun.

Any suggestions?

Sportsman's Lodge in Jacksonville, which is 28 miles from Sneads Ferry.

Flatwoods Outfitters in Hubert, about 35 miles away (unless you have a military ID and can cut through the base, then it's about 25 miles)

The NC Wildlife range on the far side of Holly Shelter Game Lands, about 35 miles away.

Before NC Wildlife built the range, you could go to the Stones Creek gamelands right by Sneads Ferry and shoot, but not anymore.  You could go "coyote hunting," but that's none of my business. . . .

Not much in the way of ranges close to S/F.  Camp Lejeune's Stone Bay rifle range has prone only mid and long range matches about once a month, but nothing you can just go shoot recreationally on a daily basis. (Mainside has a trap/skeet range, but you'd need a military ID or military sponsor).

Some ranges toward Wilmington, but that's almost an hour away.

Could try to find some private land, but need to be 500 feet from structures (county ordinance. . . Thanks Onslow).

Since you work at night and looking at shooting during the day.. This might be your best bet...

During the week (wed-fri) its pretty dead.. up too 200 yard rifle range and 100 yard pistol range. (They are closed Monday and Tuesdays)

Its $10.00 a person now and you have to watch a 4 min video on safety.
