Gents,

Any recommendations on areas somewhat close to Lejeune/Jacksonville to do some tent/car camping. Looking for wooded, someplace we can have a fire, and possibly pet friendly. I've found a couple places on the beach, not what we're looking for. It looks like the Croatan is a no-fire area (unless I'm missing something).

Any ideas on somewhat secluded, somewhat local places to spend a weekend out of the house?

Call the Ranger station at Croatan. It is a national park, they usually allow fires, unless it is high risk conditions.
