Things that I took away from the event…
- The Salvo was fun to shoot. After shooting it I don't think I'll be using my 8" rod kit. I wouldn't want to give up more suppression then I heard in the 12" full configuration.
- I definitely prefer the saker over the spec war as far as blowback and suppression goes on an AR.
- It was funny to see my friend's reactions to how "loud" suppressed 5.56 was once they got on the gun. From 10' away they were asking why I had plugs to shoot because it was "pretty quiet".
- I'm glad I have an Osprey45, but now I need a 1911 host. It balances very nicely on there.
- The suppressed AK was probably the most memorable thing we got to shoot, but also the loudest. Not sure I would build one for myself, but there was absolutely no gas to the face, which was very nice.
- Suppressed .22lr is still the most fun caliber to shoot with a can.
- 300blk is just plain fun. It also made me want an Omega now, even though I have an SDN6 for 300blk use.
- I wish I could have paid to put more rounds down range. I left with blue balls after shooting a few rounds through each can.
- The guys at War Sport are a class act.
- Carolina Guns and Gear has friendly staff and is only an hour from Raleigh. For $25 I think I'm going to be going back for a few range days soon.
