three thugs in a stolen van crashed into the a gun shop in N. August, SC early this morning. The owner, who lived behind the store, answered the alarm armed with an AR15 w/full cap mag and opened fire on the trio. He killed one and wounded the other two.

The two surviving suspects are in custody and all three have (gasp) prior criminal records. Imagine that.

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WIS) - A Midlands man is dead and two others are injured after investigators say they were shot by the owner of a gun shop while trying to steal from the business early Thursday morning.

Aiken County Sheriff's Office investigators say the three men intentionally drove a truck into the Guns and Ammo Gunsmith in North Augusta around 4 a.m.

According to an incident report, the noise from the crash and the store's alarm woke the owner of the business who lives in the rear of the store with his wife.

The owner told investigators he grabbed his AR-15 and went into the store to see what was happening.

According to the report, one of the suspect shouted "kill the [expletive]," and that's when the owner emptied a 30 round magazine before retreating to his room to get more ammunition.

All three of the suspects were hit with gunfire.

Deputies say two of the alleged burglars, Eddie Stewart, 20, of Columbia and Franklin Robinson, 17, of Gadsden, drove to a nearby Waffle House.

The third, 20-year-old K'Raven Aude Goodwin of Eastover, was found inside the business. He died shortly after being taken to Georgia Health Sciences University hospital, according to the coroner.

Stewart and Franklin remain at an area hospital.

No charges have been filed.

AR 15 to the rescue............owner should have a response vest with more mags and pistol on the side just in case. Glad the owner or his wife were not harmed.

If Obama had a son.....

Have to disagree that it was a good shoot though.....2 of them lived

"No charges have been filed."

I love a happy ending.

Emptied a 30rd mag, shots on all targets, one less POS on the streets, and no charges on the gun shop owner... I like it!

Worst news I've heard all day. Two of 'em lived.

Glad the owner is ok though.

According to the investigator, this is the same crew who hit a gun store in Sumter and several other towns all over South Carolina.

Good to shoot back. Better to hit your targets. Best to totally eliminate the threats.

An aquaintence of mine was working overwatch for a team pinching up on a hostage situation a few years ago when their target came charging out the front door with a shotgun. Team member stutter steps and the formation went down. Overwatch emptied his MP5... target reduced. At his use of force briefing he was asked why he emptied his entire 30rd mag and he simply replied, "Because that's all it could hold."
