THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT It looks to me like there are a few grocery stores I'll be interested in within two miles of the north end of campus. Both are what I consider walking distance. I am still on the fence about bringing firearms. I'm curious how good or bad the neighborhoods around NCSU are, particularly on the north end of campus. I was slightly disturbed by the presence of a street nearby named after the late reverend Martin Luther King, jr.
I am considering just bringing a glock 21 and 200 rounds just in case of a hurricane. I don't want to go through a Katrina situation without a firearm. ![]() And I have asked this question several times and can find no answers anywhere on the internet. I grew up around Mexicans. all of my ex girlfriends (who taught me how to cook) are Mexicans. I am wondering how the availability of habanero peppers and other hot peppers are. I need lots of these things in my diet. Is there anywhere near campus that stocks them year around?

Whats the name of the place you're staying?
Good news...Farmer's market right near campus. At the end of Lake Wheeler Rd. Might can find your peppers there. Firearms...why not? What good do they do in AZ? |

Being across the street from campus with guns seems like it would leave more room for problems. Living in a college only complex with room mates I don't know drastically increases the chances of theft. While not anywhere in the lease, the guy on the phone said they do have a no-firearms policy. I seriously doubt I will go shooting even once between the time I get there and winter break. However, I think if there is a hurricane or George Zimmerman is found not guilty, I really really want to have my glock on the east coast. ![]() |

There are several ranges around where you can rent guns. PDHSC and Range 37. Maybe Eagle 1 as well. Who knows? Get a job in your department or maybe if you have a stipend..but a gun with the leftovers once you get here! |

The neighborhoods around campus are not to bad. There are a lot of homeless crackheads that wander about on Western Blvd. and Hillsborough St. but they don't really cause any problems. Raleigh has very mixed neighborhoods and except for the very nice ones all kinds of people can be found in each neighborhood. Because of this also there are a lot of world food markets scattered about I can think of 2 within walking distance of campus. I know its no G21 but I have my G19 right down the road from you and we can go to the range anytime just bring a couple boxes of ammo.

I think I've decided to bring my glock 21 and j frame. I figure the j frame will be carried a lot more once I get there just because it's so hard to spot. I'm definitely up for a pistol match here and there. I'll have to see how much/little free time I have before I start thinking about stuff like that though. It looks like there is an IDPA match 6 miles from campus. I am physically fit and have no qualms walking that distance.
I'll post another thread once I'm pretty well established. I've had a lot of fun with AZHTF so I hope I can get to know some folks around here too. |

One thing to look into since you don't have a car is the CAT bus(public bus). There are stops all over the place and you can get to most places around town like grocery stores that might be too far to walk etc. As a student you can get a pass from the school for free to ride the CAT bus for free which is pretty good since it cost $1.00 to ride the bus. Check out their website to see the routes and there is probably a stop pretty close to where you are staying.
I live pretty close to campus and will be finishing up school this semester and would be happy to show you around and go shooting if you are interested. |

Same username at aol dot com. I've been in the apartment business for 23 years and have never seen this. If you have issues with your landlord, let me know. Last guy I helped got a $4k payday from his previous landlord. If there's not one already there, put a lock on your bedroom door and use it until your roommate earns your trust. |

I'd bring the guns and buy a small safe that you can bolt to the floor/wall. CCW holder? If you don't know your roommates well, keep your mouth shut about the guns.
I'd wager we have as many Hispanics in NC as Arizona. You shouldn't have a problem finding your peppers. Welcome to NC. |

I will have enough FMJ for one USPSA match too. |

After weighing my suitcases I opted not to bring firearms. It isn't worth the trouble. I may change my mind once I fly back in November or December. Either way I'll be in NC tomorrow night. See yall around!

I'm here! So far so good. Attractive women seem more plentiful than bottles of keystone light at an ASU frat party. I'm loving the campus so far. Just went for a walk around the north end to look for where my classes will be. This year is going to be the toughest of my life as far as academics go, but it could definitely be worse!

HAHAHAHA Very true story. But there's a reason for all the bricks and construction. How I heard it was an alumnus runs a brick business and gives us free bricks, but we have to use so many of them a year to keep getting them for free. This could be fictional, though. |

Yeah, this place has a lot of bricks. Nice charm to it though. Beats the hell out of ASU, which tried to look all modern and hip when half of the buildings were constructed in the 1970's. Not to mention the new dorms there kind of look like prison blocks. |

Those prison cells were at least decent enough to achieve the goal of college Sorry Couch, had to check up and see if you were talking bad about AZ ![]() |
