For all those avid coyote hunters here in N.Carolina night hunting is now legal !!
This will be for a 270 day trial basis with the intent to which the bill will be written into
law and passed after the 270 days. Being a avid night hunter (NV Scopes) I no longer have
to sneak around ! I have been on the front lines on this proposal and cant wait to go tonight !!
Its hot as hell out there I will have to bathe in scent shield or just lay in a creek ! Anyway just
FYI ,good luck to all those who like to hunt at night . Be safe!

I'm going to set up one of my ARs for night hunting this weekend. I have a PVS-14 with helmet mount and picked up one of the newer civilian-legal IR lasers.

I be jelly.

Local guy backed out of a $1200 purchase this morning. That sale would have had me shopping at TNVC with the quickness.

I wonder how well .444 Marlin would work on yotes?

Yeah, I was being silly. I know that with solid placement, .22WMR would do. Last one I shot was with a .25.06 with a handloaded NBT. Nice doggy.... line up perfectly quartering... Boom!

The results were quite impressive.

SC DNR:
Coyotes and Armadillos - A hunting license is required, however there
is no closed season on hunting coyotes and armadillos on private land
statewide during daylight hours. The use of bait and electronic calls is legal.
Coyotes and armadillos may be hunted at night with or without the aid of
bait, electronic calls, artificial lights, or night vision devices using a bow
and arrow other than a crossbow, a rimfire rifle, a shotgun with shot size
no larger than a BB, or a pistol of any caliber having iron sights, a barrel
length not exceeding nine inches. The pistol may not be equipped with a
butt-stock, scope, or laser sight.
From the last day of February to July 1, upon notification to SCDNR at least
48 hours in advance, coyotes may be hunted at night with artificial lights
and night vision devices using any legal firearm, bow, or crossbow. Notice to
SCDNR is required once per season for each property and the names and
hunting license numbers of each person participating in the hunt must be
listed. Hunters using centerfire rifles during this time must be at an elevated
position at least 10 feet from the ground. Persons convicted of certain road
hunting and night hunting violations during the previous five years are
ineligible to hunt coyotes at night. The required notification system will be
in place by February 2013 at www.dnr.sc.gov/nighthunt.

So what would a good rimfire cartridge be for hunting coyotes?
