THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'll be hitting Olde Mecklenberg Brewery, but that's not the right speed for a 3 and 4 year old! Anything family oriented that I NEED to do? Tx |

I have 2 yr and 4yr old boys.
Discovery Place in downtown Charlotte is a great children's museum that is good for killing 3 or 4 hours. Carowinds amusement park is on the south side. Bring their swim trunks and go to the waterpark there. Admission is pricey. If you like the outdoors, Crowders Mountain state park has a huge hill that you can hike up. Beware I took my sons there about a month ago and the 2yr old decided he didn't want to walk, so I had to carry him all the way up and down. |

Definately Discovery Place. As for other stuff, I can't recall what my son could do at the age of 3-4. I would suggest Sports Connection as well, but they're too young for lazer tag, wall climbing, and some of the other things they do there. There is a miniature bowling offered as well as arcade games similar to what you'd find at Chucky Cheese. We have several of those BTW...as well as Monkey Joes. Monkey Joes are large bounce houses with many different things to jump on. Bring socks if you go.
NASCAR speed Park is pretty cool as well, and not so much about NASCAR. But again, I don't think it's age appropriate. I got it, go to the Charlotte Visitor's website and poke around. http://www.charlottesgotalot.com/default.asp?charlotte=245 |

Another vote for discovery place, the kids will have a blast, my 3yr old daughter loves to go to monkey joe's... Take a walk around some of the city parks... Freedom park is nice and if the little ones give out you're not carrying them all way up or down crowders mt.
The white water park is family oriented, check out the website for details, You can also try - Leather and Lace on South Blvd Crazy horse on independence Blvd The men's club, off of tyvola Paper dolls on Wilkinson Blvd.... Oh..... Ummm.... Right.... Kids.... There is a butterfly conservation atrium at or near freedom park, also check out the free magazine -creative loafing, it will have listings of different events and festivals going on around town. You can also take them to the mint museum, which may have an interesting showing going on. Racking my brain - Charlotte knights baseball - actually down the road in sc, but good tickets are cheap Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Charlotte's Mint Museum is well renowned. It was one of four places in the US that got to host the Tutankhamun exhibit. So it is nice.
Reid's gold mine is a lot of fun for kids. It kind of depends on if you are active with your kids or want to sit on your ass and let someone else raise them. You know it can be a little work to have fun with kids. |

Discovery place is on the list. We have a Port Discovery in Baltimore that my wife has taken my kids to, but I've never been.
We're pretty active with the kids. Hell, I'm dragging them along to a Shriner's Convention, that should say something! Thanks for all the suggestions. Another question; Am I to understand that I can't carry if the place charges admission? Or is that for events, not museums and the like? Seems odd. |

But you find good seafood in Maryland, and that makes up for a lot.

Damm I forgot about the raptor center, if you do go, stop by Latta plantation while you are out. It's just up the dirt road about a quarter mile. If you missed it, you can also give the white water center a Try. There is a good bit of stuff to do there with the kids.
Edit - there are some good hiking trails around mt island lake access points are on the same gravel road as the raptor center and Latta plantation Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

US National Whitewater Center. I went this past weekend and it was awesome. If you go, get the all-sport pass. It's $54 per adult (dunno if there is a kid price), but that covers everything there except food, and they have all kinds of stuff to do there.

I think at 48", their ride potential grows quite a bit...but there are still a bunch of rides they can't get on until 56" or somthing like that. He can ride a handful of the cooler rides (he's over 48") but he can't ride the Intimidator or any of the adult only rides. We used to get season passes but decided that we weren't going enough to warrant it. I know once he hits 54-56", we'll get the passes again. |

Some of my best memories growing up were the family trips to amusement parks.

Did we mention its going to be hot?
It was beautiful yesterday, and pretty nice this morning. |

I'm leaving Baltimore at 4AM towing a trailer, so, it'll be after 1 before I get there Sunday.
The worst will be Monday on the parkinglot at the stadium doing our drill routine, but it can't be as bad as Toronto was 2 years ago. 111 degrees on the parking lot, Queen was in town, tall ship sail in, G20 summit, protestors and shriners running around.....all in a heat wave! |

Great Wolf Lodge out by the speedway might be another good day option
