With the recent ruling on Heller/McDonald extending to all arms in the Caetano and progress that Nolo is trying to make for Trusts to manufacture Form 1 MG's...I've started to look into exactly what it takes to own a MG in NC.  I'm really perplexed by the MG permit thing as you can't find much of anything on the web about it other than that you're supposed to get one from you local sheriff's office before you can transfer one into your possession.

If anyone can post some more info on MG permits and if it only applies to transfers vs a legal Form 1 manufacturing if that becomes an option, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks
Wes

Took some digging but here it is:

Would be great if a few others rehosted that.

I'm sorry if this has been covered earlier but I didn't see it. I've seen some stuff about CLEO signature still being needed for a trust, but some of it is kind of old and some of it is contradictory. Can anyone tell me what exactly the deal is?

Can you own a m203 in NC? I was thinking about getting one of the recievers and doing the paperwork on it just want to make sure it's legal. Thanks

Damn it man lol. I was thinking one of those hornets nest adapters would be awesome for squirrel  hunting lol. Sweet now to get a receiver.

Called NC Silencers today and they said that all that is needed to permanently bring (already stamped F4) suppressors/MG to NC is an ATF 5320, and that it isn't necessary to get county CLEO sign-off or notification anymore because of HB 562...

Can anyone confirm this?

With the possibility of the HPA passing, what are the NC laws pertaining to suppressors? I saw that in Tx the stamp is the affirmative defense, meaning that the law will have to be changed. Does NC have any similar problem?

Did my first Form 1 to SBR my .300 blackout pistol last week, went to see Scott at Tar Heel State Firearms and he took good care of me. Also had my lower engraved while I was there to save me a trip back out there. I can't recommend them enough, super friendly and very responsive to my emails. I can't wait till I can go back to get a suppressor from them in the future. So happy to have someplace local to me where I can go for all my NFA needs. Thanks to BigWaylon for recommending them on here, Scott's wife did mention you while I was there, she had high praise for you.

So I just want to be clear on a few things....
Moving from out of state into NC with MG's and SBR's, and suppressors is not big deal anymore.  Just need the 5320 correct?

Buying MG's, do not need cleo permission anymore correct?

If HPA passes, It will not help anyone living in NC, correct?

Are there any pro FA private clubs that do subgun matches on the eastern half of the state?

thanks for answering this BW. I own a m203 and just applied for a job in Charlotte. When the OP didn't mention DD I was a bit worried.

As an aside, it's almost disturbing how often you have already posted the answer to a NFA question that I have. If not here, elsewhere in the gun forumverse.  If I do end up relocating to NC, we should get together for a NFA fun gun shoot or something.

Who is a solid FFL/SOT for a suppressor transfer in the Greensboro area?

I was under the impression that 5320.20 is not needed to move suppressors. I'm moving from FL and I've been trying to find a firm answer for awhile now. I did submit a 5320.20 for the can but only really to update the address in the records.

This is a little more generalized than NC, but anyway... My brother is stationed in a no NFA state for the time being. He wants to Form 1 an SBR and SBS and set up a trust so he can store the guns with me, a happy surrogate. Since he is in the military, this will continue to be useful for him as he could always be sent overseas or somewhere otherwise not NFA friendly. With that in mind, if I add an item to the trust, can they be stored at different addresses? I know the 5320.20 can be filled out for individual items, but will there be an issue with the ATF if my brother changes the address for his items in the trust but I keep mine?

Where do you guys go to shoot your FA in Charlotte?

I know Blackstone and CSA are cool with it but outdoors would be better. Currently I travel 1.5 hrs to shoot outdoors.

Does anyone know where to get fingerprinting done around the Fayetteville area, other than the Sheriffs Office? They have no available slots open until May, according to their website. I am looking to do another Form 1 but I haven't completed any since 2014-15 so I have been catching up on the new regulations.

Do them yourself. You can order blank cards from ATF and an inkpad from Amazon. This post from BigWaylon should have all the info you need.

That is what I plan on doing now. I was hoping to get my Form 1 finished this week before I am gone for the next month but Amazon won't be able to delivery the necessary items in time. I'll just take care of it when I return.
