Me and the boys have been riding here. Does anybody know if you can ride from the atv trails to the mine for a tour?

I did not even know you could tour the mine there...

Any info on this?  How long of a tour is it? How much does it cost? Walking, cart, boat???  Is it and actual underground mine or do they just point to some tailings piles where they strip mined and tell you a quick spiel about the goings on back then?

Over the years I've toured Bonne Terre a few times, but never St. Joe State Park's mines...

Mines isn't exactly the correct term to use. It is the old smelter building and they give you a rundown of the area and the former operations. Please note it has been years since I have been there. P.S. the new range that opened is right next to the place.

Ahhh, I know the building you speak of...  I wasn't sure if there was a mine that went under the part that was accessed via that building kinda like Bonne Terre or what...

No, the mine there (St Joe No. 17 shaft) is flooded. The No. 3 mill is now a museum. If you hike over to the northern side of the park, right off MO-32 by Elvins, the old No. 4 mill structure is abandoned and easily accessible. The equipment and siding is all gone, but the thing is like 300 feet long, multiple levels, and inclined up a hillside.
