My family will be visiting the Branson/Springfield area soon and thought about stopping by St. Louis to see a couple of attractions on the way through.  I've done some research but am not finding a lot of recent info about what is a go vs no go.

Is this info still valid?

CC on Arch grounds is ok.
CC into Arch is no go.
CC at zoo no go?  Do they have metal detectors?
What about the sightseeing ferry near/at the arch?  Do they have metal detectors?

What constitutes a bar in MO?

Thanks!

Can't go in the Arch with anything considered a weapon, they have detectors and do bag searches.
Zoo no problem last year(no detectors), I don't think it's changed

The tram to the top of the Arch is closed until sometime in April FYI.   I have no idea about the river boat, but I highly doubt they have metal detectors for that.  No metal detectors at the Zoo either and just carry at whatever restaurant/bar you plan to go to, I always do.

IIRC a bar in MO is any place that has sales of alcohol over 50%. So your standard, run of the mill Applebee's type places would be ok, unless they have a posted sign that says otherwise. Something that I like to do is look at their hours. If they're opened much past midnight and/or have some sort of live entertainment it more than likely would be considered a bar. Also, there are a few casinos in the St. Louis area, should you choose to go to one to eat, CC is not allowed there.

If you go to the zoo, make sure your firearm is well concealed as you will be seen and outed by their security.

I printed and got pulled aside.  Kind of fun to be a Sergeant in the District that the zoo is located in...

IIRC, the Arch is under the control of the U.S. Parks Service......Federal Property. Technically not in the State of Missouri.

Regarding the zoo, has there been any definitive ruling on the legal status of that?  I know, as Kujoe said, they don't allow it and their security is watching.

My understanding of it is that the zoo, controlled by the city, has no legal authority to ban concealed carry.  An activist, Jeffrey Smith, challenged them on it.
At that point they wet their pants and got a judge to issue a restraining order or something for that individual and anyone acting "in concert" with him.

They make the dubious claim that they are a school and an amusement park.  I've not heard of any final conclusion on it.

As an FYI, with the exception of specific places, the no CCW signs have no force of law.  The best they can do is ask you to leave and if you refuse, they can call the police and at worst it is an infraction costing $35.

This site is a great help for handgun laws in all 50 states and for reciprocity.

This is true, with an exception of the 17 places for those carrying without a permit.  Without a permit it is a misdemeanor to carry in those places.  For signs posted at a place that's not listed in the law, it is as you say.
