I've tried Googling, but my Google Fu is weak.

So, if I move to MO, I would be bringing:

1.  2012 GMC Sierra diesel that I just paid $31k for used in 2016.
2.  2012 28' Enclosed Car trailer, bought new, paid $5k
3.  1965 GMC, bought in 1992, for $4k, but it's my drag car and is worth well over $40k.

So, how does this personal property tax crap work?  Is there an online calculator?

I found this, but, I'm not sure if that's for when you buy new vehicles, or for when someone moves into the state?  https://sa.dor.mo.gov/mv/stc/

Check the site of the county where you'll be living.

That site is of little use.

for the drag car, if you trailer it and don't need plates then you don't need to pay PPT on it.

Well, that's certainly a plus.  It has IL plates now, but it's no longer street legal and as such, not street driven.

I've been searching for the last half hour, and haven't found the answer either.

Here's the best I could find;

While I thank you for looking, I've found that site too.

Talk about a poorly setup state website... That information should be easy to find!!!

I did find this tidbit...

http://dor.mo.gov/forms/Taxpayer%20Guide.pdf

Personal Property Tax - A tax imposed by your local government (county or city) on items like cars and boats. This tax is paid to the county or city and not the Department of Revenue.

Which then lead me to here:  http://www.sfcgov.org/

Which has zero information on how the tax is calculated.

here is an easy way to do it.  do you know the county you will be moving to?  go to the county's website and look up one of your neighbor's house property tax on receipts (they are open public records) using the address.  from there you will get the registered name (and it will also give you the tax rate for the plot).  then go back and do a records search for that property owners name and get find their personal property tax receipts. it will have the tax rate there for cars and such

every city and county is different.  almost all are tracked by the county and not the state btw

MO State Statute 137.080
By law, personal property is divided into sub classes.

Grain½ of 1% of true market value
Livestock12% of true market value
Motor Vehicles33.3% of true market value
Manufactured Homes19% of true market value
Historic Aircraft & Vehicles5% of true market value
All other personal property33.3% of true market value

Take 33% of the market value of the property and multiply by the mill levy for your tax district.  Each county will have several different tax districts, and they may vary greatly.
1. 2012 GMC Sierra diesel that I just paid $31k for used in 2016.
Say its value is $30,000...33.3% would be $10,000 X 8.5% (wild ass guess on the mill levy) the property taxes would be $850.
2. 2012 28' Enclosed Car trailer, bought new, paid $5k
Say its value is $5,000...33.3% would be $1667 X 8.5% (still a wild ass guess) the property taxes would be $141.70.

I'm not a tax collector or work for any county, I'm just a mortgage broker who has had to estimate to many real estate taxes, this info is only worth as much as you paid for it and may or may not be accurate!

Edited to add: That 8.5% for the mill levy was a wild ass guess based on what I see in the Kansas City area, after seeing the county you are moving to, and a little research, I'd guess that figure will be closer to 5.5%.  I'd guess $550 on the truck and $92 on the trailer.
