[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Well, I completed one of the "80%" Spectre Glock frames...

It was STUPID easy to finish.

I'm truly surprised that BATF ruled the unit a non-gun.

Purchased it Saturday at the K.C. gun show, had it finished that evening.

The only thing I have an issue with is you drill all holes with the supplied bits. (U.S. Standard size)

Apparently Glock uses Metric diameter pins, after you drill the holes and TRY to install the pins you encounter the realization that they don't fit the holes and it's a bitch to drive them in.

I'm going to try and find the correct size bits and re-drill the holes.

There are metal rails in the locking block. They are longer than factory Glock, in addition the locking block is more robust than Glock's. The rear rails are plastic but after looking over the design I'm not as concerned.

The "feel" sucks, but that's MY observation, AND it doesn't have ANY markings.

So, one pair of central metal rails versus the factory configuration of one set fore and aft. Hmm, I'd be real curious so know some longevity (round count) numbers before the slide gets too floppy on the frame.

What else do you need? Trigger stuff, slide, barrel? I'm wondering if price wise you can come out ahead.

You will NEVER come out "ahead" on "80%" builds.

You need EVERYTHING except the stripped frame.

Here you go...

I DO WANT TO RESTATE THAT THE PINS ARE WAY TOO TIGHT OF FIT!!! I will post the CORRECT size drill bit to use at a later date.

EDIT:

The drill bit they furnish for the small upper pin in the locking block is a 7/64" the decimal equivalent is 0.0945 I checked the pin diameter and it's .120

The drill bit they furnish for the large lower pin in the locking block is 5/32" the decimal equivalent is 0.156 I checked the pin diameter and it's .157

Wish they would have hired someone with some expertise in ergos and aesthetics to design the grip area.

Waiting for version 2.0, or a competitor.

The pics I saw on stores online look like ass, seeing SS's pics make it look ..better.

I think its like the slide fire stock, see the gen 1? Looked like absolute ass. The gen 2? Looks as good as most any stock out there once the functionality was proven.

There is no doubt that the "feel" sucks ass.

Last night I started working on the aesthetics. The frame protrudes past the front of the slide, so I shortened the dust cover and blended it to match the slide better. Next will be the horrendous "beaver tail" that hangs out off the back.
