are they required in MO?
what is the penalty if they are and I don't run with it presented? Thanks, |
|
[#1]
Yes they are required, I live in KC and most of life I haven't used them and only got a warning twice.

[#2]
Front and back are required for passenger vehicles, trucks, and vans. The exceptions are:
Trucks licensed 18,000lbs or above, in which you get one (1) plate, beginning with two numbers, and it goes in the front. Idea being this will be used to pull trailers and there is no point in displaying it in the back. TAKE A HINT OKLAHOMA! Motorcycles, displayed in the back obviously. The penalty various if it is a muni, county/state who stops you. Usually failure to properly display plates. Good for PC to run a plate/make a stop but not worth a ticket in my opinion. |

I haven't run on on my cars for 20 years. I refuse to jack up the front of my car with that ugly ass plate/bracket.
MO needs to ditch this. |

I haven't had one for many years untill recently when I started driving a hand me down from my wife. I have only ever gotten one ticket and that was thrown away when ai showed up to the station with a front plate in place. |

As stated, it's good PC.
In Randolph I had a hard time enforcing the speed limit (20 on Randolph Rd.) also the speed limit signs were not the correct height under state law. So I primarily wrote expired plates, no front plate, and improper display (i.e. Plate in window) Fines IIRC were around $125.00 on each offense. Mainly newer Vettes and newer Camaro's I pulled one newer Vette over and as I started to explain why I pulled him over he stated "Yeah, I know. No front plate." He went on to say that my summons was number 30 for that offense since he bought the car and he wasn't going to "Ruin the looks with a front plate". |

It's a stupid law for someone to deface their property especially when it is not needed, just another way to generate money for the city.

I STRONGLY disagree. Sometimes the only plate you get a number off of is the front plate when a vehicle is going the other direction.
A "pet peeve" of mine is smoked license plate covers, I stopped a vehicle that was running a cover so dark I couldn't read it bending down next to it. When I ran the vehicle the plate was expired. SURPRISE! |

I'm not trying to bust your chops. If Missouri law allows one plate on a bike, why can't that same train of thought be the same with a car / truck? I know you don't make the laws, but it would seem to be common sense to me to require only one plate. I understand that that front plate may be the only identifier you may be able to make out on the car, but I'm sure it would also be easier to ID a bike with a front plate as well? |

Also, there are plenty of other states (actually, most states) which only require one plate. If it was a problem for law enforcement, every state would have two plates.

I guess I am the only person in the world who thinks the license plate actually completes the look of a vehicle.
I think a properly mounted front plate does not detract and actually enhances the look of the car. When I get a new car I can't wait to get the tags because of that giant blank space on the bumper! |

Front plates suck. Only people I saw with them back in Michigan were those with classic cars or vanity plates. Since moving here, the front license plate thing is one of just a handful of things I see Missouri being more retarded than Kansas about. I can't think of the others at the moment.

Has only happened to me once but it was after the lady magically "found" some paperwork proving ownership once I was already siezing the plates. Plus if you get the local plates with a farm endorsement it's usually way cheaper too! |
