Carbine Class is a go. It will be taught by AFSOC/GCI. The range will be in the Lees Summit/Pleasant Hill/BFA area most likely. Class date is Saturday 7/11 and cost is $150. I am going to try to work something out for food onsite so no one has to leave. Most likely topics the class will cover: -get familiar with your equipment. IE bring/wear what gear you think you would be using if you ever had to use these skill -something to hold 2 rifle mags and 2 pistol mags min is HIGHLY encouraged -body armor is OK to wear. if you plan to use it as your mag carrier then bring and wear it -good working carbine rifle is required. IM if you plan to bring an AK instead of a western designed rifle -2 point rifle sling -pistol is also required -ear and eye protection is required and also NOT provided -wear good shoes. we will be moving around in a field, not concrete -sunblock is also suggested -if you are prone to bug eating you alive (like me) then bug repellent is also suggested -transition to secondary weapon -engaging targets to/from ready -engaging targets while moving -engaging targets from cover and impromptu cover -reloads, both primary and secondary Round count: last time we planned for 1k rifle and 500 pistol. we shot maybe half of that but that is what I would bring to be safe. -if anyone knows of good deals on pistol and rifle ammo please post in forum. I know I am going to buy more just for this class and I am sure others will too. water: bring water with you but there will be a way to refill on site. payment: still working out the best method to do this. will update with this More than 50% likely ws-6 (maybe +2) JAD762 TATBME jaws1948 detrhoyMAK SUB_MG (+1 maybe) Itracc +1 55_s2k_shawn bud flyboy77 rocco1695 The_Evil_One 50/50 so far bullz_aye Munzy sigpro |

Who would be interested in a carbine class late summer in KC? AFSOC would most likely be the instructor along with whatever crew he brings. Class would run $150 and we need at least 10 ppl to run it. If you are interested post so w/ dates that work or don't work. Right now, I am open after May 18th until the last week of July. View Quote What level we talking about? I'd be up for an intermediate class, if the schedule works out. |
I'd be interested. I was signed up for the Mike Pannone carbine class last summer but it was cancelled unexpededly a week or so prior.
I'm over in the STL area but would attend if it fits the calendar. |
I would be very interested in a carbine 101 class. Do you offer Carbine for Dummies?
I'm 87% in. Depends on the day, but shouldn't be a problem with enough notice.
I'm always interested, last weekend of June works best for me.

I'm interested. Any day of the week would work for me. I don't know if I'd belong in beginner or intermediate though.

can you only do weekends or will weekdays with enough notice work? last one we did was on a Friday iirc View Quote Friday sounds like a good option for me. Any chance of moving this more central, since it seems like folks from all over the state are interested? It might work at the green valley range? |

Got a wedding to attend that day. Saturday would be great and this would be my first real class. |
It would be my first class and I'm fat and out of shape. I work weekends fri, sat, sun, mon, so wed or thurs great for me. Or a Sunday day. But I don't expect a class to be set up around me and could try for a day off but it gets hard around the end of June because we shut down the first week of July so calendar gets full fast. Now the first week of July would be good.

how do these dates work for people?
7/3 (Friday) 7/6 (Monday) 7/10 (Friday) 7/11 (Saturday) AFSOC, do you have any dates you can't do? |
Currently dealing with the upheaval at work, at this MOMENT in time my Fridays are open as well as both Saturday and Sunday.
IF work changes (I get a new job and wave at my current workplace in the rearview for the last time while smiling and waving) that could all change quite dramatically. I'll have to arrange for a range (probably same loc as last time but a different area) Lets get a consensus and see what works best. Then I can possibly arrange around it. |
The Week of July 4th will probably be quite open for me... UNLESS I get a different job... then it will probably NOT be.
Sounds like a good time. I might be able to fill a couple spots if I can get some free time that works with the group.

so far here is what I see. we need a min of 10 ppl. I think I like the date of 7/11 the best so far.

I just thought about cross posting this in the KS forum. I didn't do this yesterday but just did tonight. Worse that happens is that we get too many people and split the class between 2 times. |

ok, I am editing my original post then to show 7/11 and names.

Disregard, Bear Camp is the following weekend. I can't think of anything going on the 11th that would conflict with a class. |

I would be interested in an intermediate level class on July 11. Over 50% certain that the date works for me at this juncture.
Just to start planning, what kind of round count are we looking at?
AFSOC, some questions for you in the original post. I will update them with your answers.
on a side note, I would love to do a night or twilight class sometime too |

I like the sound of this. Highly likely I could make it. I'll have to see and do some planning. I'm a pog so I don't have much training so anything I can learn is better than nothing I suppose.
Is this going to be for far out of shape guys who use their AR to hunt with? Or for people who have some training? I'm in the first catagory. And ya round count, equipment list, and is steel ammo ok?
been busy with work the past weekend and first part of the week. will update this later with new list and more info
I'm interested, but my attendance will depend on the date due to work and school.
blah finally got to where I can do other stuff than work. been changing firewalls and email filtering products at work for the past 3 weeks.
anyways I am re-writing the original post so please look there for info. |

What kind of distances are we going to be shooting? Is steel case ammo OK?
Another question; will everyone be lined up next to each other for most of the class? If so, I will switch out my Surefire muzzle brake out of courtesy.
