So I teach ccw classes. I've got a 3a concealment vest that I wear on the range. I don't ever have it under clothing but what I want is a way to have a chest mounted pistol. With vest on it makes hip carry difficult. I know little about these though. So what are my options? Pistol would be either m&p 9 with tlr3.

Hoping to keep it light.

El Paso Saddlery makes a good copy of the tanker holster for various handguns.

Double Diamond in Alaska has nice holsters for various handguns

I'm not sure this is what you're looking for.

ETA If you carry a 1911, you could try the copies of M-3 or M-7 tanker holsters.  They are relatively cheap.  http://pacificcanvasandleather.com/holsters/us_holsters4.htm

You might visit with Jim Shanahan. He works out of Waynesville pawn and gun located off the square. Does a ton of CCW and higher level classes and makes his own holsters (kydex) and AR grips. He may well have some ideas and may be able to do something custom for you.

Google Advanced Performance Shooting to find his contact info.

If the vest has molle, you could do something like this with MALICE clips. This one is mounted to a small condor chest platform that you could wear over your vest.  Think I got the platform for $24 off ebay.

I just purchased one of these made by a guy in Galena, MO.

http://yhst-44124372863424.stores.yahoo.net/airmaho.html

Website is crap, only shows a few of their options and shows out of stock.  Call them and they will hook you up.  Most comfortable concealed holster that I own.  I have work it to work every day that I have had it and have had no issues at all.

I would recommend a single stack to help concealability.  I have mine for my XDS 45.  I am certain that one could be made to fit the M&P with light.

I like these:  http://survivalsheath.com/holsters/index.htm

These are good as well:  http://clarkforkleather.com/holsters/chestholster. (In fact, I have a brand new one for a Glock 19/23 that I may be selling.)

Be careful if you go with the bra holster, we don't need another person shooting themselves

Check out Ares Tactical Molle Weaponlight Holster or a Shoulder Holster

This is done for molle but could easily be made into a chest harness.
