I watched the sale of 8 or 10 guns on Sunday Afternoon and they sold about as expected, high, including run of the mill guns. The engraved custom Marlin lever action brought $17750.
I didn't stay to bid, I couldn't look at the guns I wanted and decided I had better things to do with my time. There's always another auction and another gun for sale.
The best gun auctions occur during the middle of the week when there's a heavy presence of gun shop owners, but I've been to one with antique guns down at Hermann where that theory didn't hold water. One other man and I were the only bidders that looked at the bores before bidding started, and there were some dogs that brought way too much money. People go crazy over mismatched 1873's, especially if they have a saddle ring.
