THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I've been looking and no one local has a lower for sale. I'm wanting to build an AR pistol but having no luck finding anything. If anyone in the Springfield area has one for sale or trade or has any other good ideas and helpful hints let me know. thanks

Are you saying no one has any stripped AR receivers or no one has any pistol receivers? I ask because a stripped receiver can be built into a pistol or a rifle, it does not have to be marked "pistol".

If you are looking for a complete pistol, I know that a member here on ARFCOM has built a great reputation as a seller on Gunbroker dealing in AR pistols. He goes by Vanderjack on Gunbroker.

Also, check out the AR pistol forum here on ARFCOM.

I remember when I was excited about building an AR pistol. It took me months to get all the parts to make it exactly the way I wanted it. The day finally came and I took it to the range. I blew off a magazine as fast as I could. At first I was like . Then it dawned on me that it was about the most useless gun that I owned and within a week I had sold off the 7.5" barrel and sent off for an SBR stamp. They are fun for a minute, then it just feels and looks retarded. It's utterly ridiculous holding it at the hip, or trying to shoot it like a normal handgun. Shooting from the shoulder is awkward. If you haven't actually shot one, I would recommend doing so before getting your hopes up. But then, lots of people are more easily impressed than I am.

I have shot one AR Pistol in 9MM, looked cool sitting there but after a couple mags I can tell you that its way barrel (front end heavy). The owner now has it in the very back of his safe and I don’t believe that it has been out since that day 5 years ago.

While I will admit, using a butt Stock is way better/preferred, they can shoot nicely from the shoulder, just takes a bit of getting used too...

Works well enough to keep you legal while waiting on the Stamps to come back....

This!

Thrice!

I have only 1 use for an AR pistol...to test my SBR combo, legally. Otherwise, no use for an AR pistol. I have a 12.5" BCM in the safe, and 3 more pistol buffer tubes waiting to go on the pile of stripped lowers. My 8" 300blk barrel arrived last week.

And getting back on topic, as mentioned above, any -stripped- lower can be built into a pistol. It does -not- have to be a "pistol", or "pistol marked" lower. Usually Loftis has a few stripped lowers for sale. May not be as inexpensive as a lower from AIM, SAA, or PSA, but it's one you can pick up today.

I like mine. I don't think I've ever tried shooting it like a handgun. I place the buffer tube against my cheek and use it like a rifle. It works great. I think it's a hoot.

I've shot mine like a pistol, and it's fun.

The show at the Convention center in St. Charles is the best one if all the ones around here I think...
