I'm moving the link to the Western MO Shooter's Alliance "Get Out of Jail Free Card" here as well. Good info regarding Missouri law:

I put these three little booklets together to keep in my wallet at all times. I don't know if it's anything anyone wants, but I was considering trying to either pass them out or sell them at gunshows. I just never got around to doing that.

The folding, stapling, and cutting process should be fairly obvious, but if you want some instructions I'll be happy to provide them.

Another absolutely critical section of law - the times at which the use of physical force, and at which deadly force, are lawful.

As a side note, at this time (4/5/06) I believe there is an effort in progress to change these laws:

From CMMG on Nov. 7, 2006:

Don't know if this was posted yet, but we just got a notification from the MO AG that we can carry in 29 other states now and 2 more in Jan07.

Thanks Christopher, thats what I was lookin for.

btw, I checked out your website and your place looks very nice. I grew up in Sikeston and have family & friends all over SE MO (Cape, Jackson, Sikeston, Dexter, etc.). Every so often I go down there(I'm in STL area now) to play with my uncle's class 3 toys and was wondering if could stop by your place sometime and check it out, with advance notice of course.

Thanks again for the info!

Valid as of Sept. 2007, but seems to be updated and the correct link is still retained.

A question for yall. My son is 21 years old, and currently working on getting his CCW. Until that time he would like to ability to open carry in his vehicle (not out of his vehicle, and gun will be secured when he leaves the vehicle). After reading through some of the guides yall have so graciously provided, I am now slightly confused as to whether some cities have banned that. While North Kansas City banned open carry, does that include vehicle?

Thanks!

If he's 21, he doesn't need a CCW to have it "concealed" in a car. He doesn't need to "open carry" it in the car either. Once your 21, as long as you can legally possess a gun, you can have it in the car wherever you want.

I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas and Nevada does NOT recognize a CCW issued by another state. It has something to do with all the casinos and bars. The CCW classes cost around $60.00 and another $100.00 to file at the Clarke county sherrif's office. I believe that a Nevada CCW allows you to carry anywhere in the state except for govt. buildings. They do not have a prohibition regarding alcohol or gambling and CCW. Most places that offer the Nevada CCW clasees will also process the paperwork for the Utah and Florida CCW permits for free. All you have to do is send them in with your photos and filing fees and wait for them to arrive in the mail.

I want to thank those of you that have gone to the trouble to provide Missouri CCW information.
I currently live in Arkansas and have a Arkansas CCW permit. I am planning on moving to Missouri soon and I have been trying to find out if there are any provisions made for any recognition or transfer of the permit. I don't have any problem going through the normal process, other than the fact that I may have to travel ,quite a distance,to take the classes. At the $4.00 per gallon price, it will be very expensive to travel.

I expect to be in Berry County and so far haven't located any classes closer than Springfield.

I understand that since I am well over 21, I can carry in my vehicle, without the permit. Is this still correct?
That would cover most of my needs, but for the times I want to carry on my person, I want to be legal. Any information would be appreciated.

This is correct, carry concealed in your vehicle is okay without a concealed carry permit.

I've got a question about the weapon being "in an unloaded state when ammunition is not readily accessible or when such weapons are not readily accessible". Could I carry a handgun in my range bag, unloaded with empty mags but near boxed ammunition? Would it just depend on the DA if, in some freak accident, I ever got arrested doing it? I can definitely do it with the gun field stripped, correct?

Technically the legal issue would only occur for about 40 feet between the range parking lot and the firing line, but still...

Tom, I have known Chris for several years and have taken many of his classes. I had my wife take his Conceal Carry a couple of years ago and she now loves to go shooting with me. She was always timid around my guns since her first one she shot was a 45 cal and being pettite was not a good combination. Chris is by far the real deal. I have found that his manner of teaching is such that no matter how much or how little experience you have he can talk on your level. I have seen people just get their first pistol and go take a course and he is very patient. Saftey is stressed ALL THE TIME at his courses. I find that refreshing since there is another range just in North Cape county that is by applecreek that is open to the public. I have seen a girl shoot herself in the leg, a mini 14 discharge when the line was "clear" and many other saftery violations. If I go shooting it is at his private range. If you get a chance to stop by his place you will be impresed. I have been impressed with his degree of experience and willingness to help you in anyway he can. I have several guys from work that is going to do a private coarse with him. You will enjoy getting to know him.
