Looking to buy a truck from a mechanic shop that was abandoned by the owner/customer.

The motor is pulled, not drivable.  

What are my options on getting a title for it?

I had a neighbor of mine do this 20 years ago, so things may have changed since then.

But, he told me at the time that he had to get a title for it as an abandoned vehicle.

I would call or go by your local probate office and talk with someone to see what your options are.
