Winter Storm Watch issued for Wednesday

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

It will be cool on Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies. Highs should make it to near 40 with northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.

According to WAFF meteorologist David Ernst, we'll see relatively quiet weather into tonight with partly cloudy skies. Lows should fall into the mid 20s to begin Wednesday.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all of north Alabama for Wednesday. An area of low pressure is forecast to form along the Gulf of Mexico and track east.

Just got an email at work about it and it looks like it's been upgraded to a warning.  3-6 inches in Huntsville from what they're saying.

MSFC and Redstone Arsenal are closed today and I'll bet tomorrow as well. Y'all are supposed to get about twice as much snow in north Alabama as we in southern Tennessee.

The thrill is gone.

I'm watching it head our way as we speak.  It's about reached the MS/TN/AL border corner and one edge is at Birmingham now.

We're good:  plenty of beer, Skeeter Pee, firewood, bread flour, beans, meat and pecans, don't forget the pecans!  My wife and I vacu-bagged about 50 lbs yesterday.

Going to Fayettnam (Fayetteville) to pick up grand daughter from school and make a Strong Brothers Liquor stop. Might even hit Hellmart if I'm feeling pissed off at myself.

Well so far, it's been a whole shitload of absolutely nothing.  It's not even raining and if it did, NOAA.gov is showing that it's 36 here while my temp gauge says it's closer to 38.

According to Cullman County EMA, all roads are impassable.  But no power outages.

Memorial Parkway in Huntsville is a mess and Police are shutting it down.  I don't understand what took them so long.

People from the BBQ place are on here?  I fricking love those JoJos.  Stop and get some if time allows when I come through the FP.

Gotta support the local bbq spot.  Never had a bad plate there.

Cheers,
B

Not that I know of. But if you drive really fast to the town, you'll meet MJ...

Five minutes before this pic was taken, 11 deer walked up my hill between the Directv antenna (just above and to the right of the water hydrant) and the brushy area behind it.

Five minutes after this pic was taken, I took two shots with my BM/Armalite mid-length carbine at a coyote that was trailing the deer.  He was at the bottom of the hill just to the left of the brush pile that is left of the power pole in the center of the pic.  I have no idea if I came even close to hitting it, but it did run off into the cedar line, so at least I got it off the deer trail.

Here's what we ended up with last night:

It stopped snowing in west Cullman co. about 10:30 last night. 11.5" total on my front sidewalk. U.S. 278 has been scraped. I'll be interested to see what it looks like in the morning. It's supposed to get above freezing today, then drop into the 20's tonight. Should make for slippery roads. We'll play outside a lot with the kids today. After that I'll be ready for spring/summer.
