Don;t have much to add other than eat at New Moon;s or Dreamland for BBQ in Tuscaloosa. Also, Moundville State Park ( Indian burial mounds ) Is about 12 miles south of Tuscaloosa on Hwy 69 pretty neat if you;re in to history.

Mentone has a quaint little 1800's style downtown shopping "mall." It's a bunch of tiny little shops with a decent restaurant -- if you're into that kinda thing. My wife and I enjoy a leisurely drive out there every once in a while. It's pretty scenic.

You'll probably see one employee at the front office when you pay admission. Other than that you probably won't see many other people at all, unless you go to the museum. We should all set a date / time where we meet up for an informal ARF pig-out in Ft Payne or some such place. I'm only 20-25 miles away.
MJ can set up a police escort so we look impotent (yeah... I know it's spelled wrong, but that's how we say it).
