Glad everyone made it home OK - how did they do on the second leg of the compass course? It was not an easy stroll in the woods.
I think they missed one of the markers. They showed up hours after you left.

That being said, I'm pretty sure I would have missed one of the markers if we didn't have help.

It was a hell of a course!!! I'm really glad ya'll did that for us.

That second section was nasty. Dead fall everywhere and on the steep side too. Didn't go as far as we wanted to because it was so rough. Had a good time. I'll put together a canoe camp out later.

I'm in!

Good - will be limited because of canoes and transportation, probably can do six . Lot easier to bring more stuff. This was a good one though. Alex had a great time too.

I wouldn't go quite that far, maybe just " pussy foot" would be more applicable.

I like it!!! You're right, though, we don't know for sure if it's dead.

Had a great time guys. Made it home just before 5. It was a fun trip and it was great getting to meet everyone and brush up on some skills.

I'll get the pics I took sent to bcaus3y this week so we can work on the AAR. There will be no AAR on the lemon brick ration bar after effects.

I really think axl and Alex made the trip with the Nav course. Im really glad they made it out. Thanks guys.

Hope we can get another one of these trips setup this fall. Maybe a little closer to GA this time, but as far away as possible from any walmarts, or cats...

Very nice. I am completely unfamiliar with the SW. How do I get there?  How far in, i.e. can a 4 and. 5 y/o make the hike?

The hike in is not bad at all, it's about a 15 minute walk from the parking area. The walk out is mostly uphill, but a 4/5 y/o could make it easily.
Here's some info about the location

Here are some of the non gear pics I took of the Gear Test Campout V1.0. I will post pics of each individual persons camp setup at a later time.

Axl teaching us the Land Nav portion of the Campout.

The Nav learning materials. Special thanks to axl!

One of the Nav markers found by Team 2. Each half of the Nav course took around 2.5 hrs to complete. Axl and Alex arrived early and set the course up.

A Pure Alabama Black Snake (Rat Snake) found on Team 2's Nav trek.

Bamaflinger setting a Yo-Yo fishing reel.

The campfire cooking setup. Axl made a handheld grill from a dollar store cooling rack provided by BearJace for cooking lunch.

The Mainstay Bar challenge. Was not enjoyed by any. "follow the yellow brick road" to the designated bathroom area.

Some crawfish bcauz3y caught for dinner.

Bamaflinger caught a fish! 20-30 more and it would've been a great meal

Some light cooking by the fire. Always some water heating. The socks were delicious

The last nights fire. Very nice weather

The guys hiking out on Sunday morning. Bcauz3y followed by bamaflinger, redneckarmy34, and Bedowin2w. axl and Alex left at the end of day 2.

It was a great time, fantastic weather and a great group of attendees. Special thanks to axl and Alex for the Land Nav course setup.

Hey guys, I know some of us were being asked about certain items they had in their go bags.

Post it up if you can remember it.

I know I had brought up these, as a light alternative to the reels:

spring loaded hooks

Sawyer filter

Wild woodgas stove amazon

Reflective guyline amazon

Bladder used for gravity fed sawyer mini filter Platypus Big Zip 3L

Kelty Noah's Tarp 12 REI
(comes in other sizes too, I needed 12' for my 11' hammock

MSR Stowaway Pot 775ml REI
(This thing is heavy, if I could find a lightweight replacement, I would, but it is very tough)

Trangia Alcohol Stove Amazon
This is heavy too, but it fits inside the kit I have.  They also make a titanium version I think.  You can also make one yourself.

Warbonnet XLC Hammock Fat guy proof

If I'm forgetting stuff, let me know.

I'm guessing they are sold out, but here is where I found it.

After doing some research, here is the only other place I see with something similar.
