I'm totally bummed. RedNeckArmy just turned me onto this thread. I'm only an hour away up in Boaz and would **LOVE** to attend, but this Sunday is literally the only Sunday of the year that makes that impossible!
Suckage |

Well I'm officially out. My friend is driving down from Memphis to hang out this weekend.
|

If you are coming, but didn't get a PM from me regarding the details, please let me know.

I'd love to do it but I can't make it. Wifette has scheduled stuff over the weekend with her folks.
If you run it again in fall I'll make it a point to be there. Hope you guys have a blast ! |

I might have to back out guys. I'll make the call in a few hours.

So far I think I only have two guys riding with me. Everyone else is taking their own vehicle.
Does that sound right? |

My pack is so heavy, it's embarrassing. I need to try out a few changes in my gear, which means bringing a lot of stuff.

Trying things out is what this trip is for, see what works or not. Maybe grab a few ideas from others too. I'm very interested to see what everyone brings. |

It's an 88 liter osprey, around 45 lbs. with water and food.
It's actually pretty comfy, I walked around for 20 mins or so up and down the hill with no issues. I'm not a minimalist. |

I'm tall and wide, so all my stuff has to be tall and wide.
It adds up quick. |

Leaving in thirty minutes - see y'all out there. Remember - always be nice to your elders. And don't block the white Nissan truck in.

We broke camp around 9:45 this morning and packed all of the gear out. I'm back home but the rest of the crew rode with bcauz3y.
I had a great time this weekend guys. Glad I could participate, learn new skills and brush up on others, and meet everyone. Sent from Wal-Mart |

Glad you made it home - reminded me I need to go by Walmart too. Just FYI - wife just dug two ticks out of me. One regular sized brown, the other the tiny light colored deer tick. Be sure and check yourself carefully.

Quoted: let me know when y'all get in - bet I slept a lot better last night than y'all did. Enjoyed meeting and getting to know everyone. Thanks for letting us old folks go along. Alex & I had a great time but damn I'm tired. And thanks for not having a geriatric section marked off for us at the camp fire. Offer is still on reference reloading. Just for reference, this is how a sleeping mat is supposed to be used: http://dreamsweetnails.com/Dreamsweet/Photos_Products/Posted/Kids_Stuff/D4B_sleeping_mat_Brody_640.jpg View Quote I think I did a better job on night two, but it still sucked. |

Glad everyone made it home OK - how did they do on the second leg of the compass course? It was not an easy stroll in the woods.
