Fall semester starts in a couple weeks. 30 days until the first football game. Go chase some chicky snax.

Or if you are too mature for that sort of thing, try a tour on the USS Kidd, a WWII destroyer docked near the I-10 bridge.

Plenty of plantation homes in the area, many are open for tours.

Tiki tube floating on the Amite River near Denham Springs. There are other streams in the area that you can canoe or raft on. Or Blue Bayou water park (it's always crowded, though).

Tour the old and new state capitol buildings.

Baton Rouge has plenty of stuff to do but I haven't lived there in over 30 years though i was born and raised there.

Drive west on I-10 to Lafayette and enjoy the experience of Acadiana. Visit Vermillionville, eat some of the best Cajun food you ever had, listen to some good music. Just make damned sure that you don't speed over The Basin! They will write you up for 2 mph over. Stop by Poche Bridge and buy some fine boudin and andoullie.

Pass by Kenny's seafood in Slidell on your way home. They have good prices. Bears Grill on Gause has a killer shrimp Po-Boy.

Check out Hunter's Run across the river. Haven't been there in awhile, but they have really nice shooting lanes set up for skeet.

There is always something going on over there. I'm not sure if they have a website but they should.

You could also set up a bow fishing charter. From what I understand you meet up with em and go out and fish all night and when y'all come in they clean and bag your fish while you catch some sleep. I haven't had the opportunity to go myself with 2 kids, but it is on my to do list. From what I'm understand they're fairly reasonable as far as price. The last one I heard of charged somewhere of $150-200 for a trip.

Put up some pics if you take the fishing trip!
