Wife asks what manor of peas are these?
By the way, every time the son sees this thread he says: "There he is! ... Where'd he go? ... There he is!" regarding your avatar :) |

Thanks. Wife is always looking for some variety around the gardens. She says they're beans but small and soft like peas? At any rate, nice set up and glad to see its going well.

View Quote Yea, they are soft like peas for sure. They take a decent amount of effort to cook though. I think about 2 hours. They have the consistency of lima beans when they are cooked correctly. A bowl of them with some fresh sliced tomatoes is just heaven. |

No kidding?
Hell I've been planting in late September. This year I'm going to plant in the first week. The problem we always have with planting to early is the late heat makes the crops bolt. |

I would plant broccoli first because it won't handle a freeze like the rest can. Don't forget to fertilize. |

Also on onions they need a dose of triple 13 every three weeks. |

Probably should give them until the 26th, to make sure they're up to weight. Plus I'll be at CWE that weekend.
Sorry about that brother. |

Thanks man! I'm mainly just treading water right now. Nothing cool going on at the moment. Still doing the chickens and the rabbits, and doing basic prepping. Had some fun shooting at the new CMP range a week or so ago. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l543/bobjonesar15/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_0046_zpsdeerpr2j.jpg I'm still training with LHT when I can too. It really is a great facility.
Got to put some 600y dope in the book. I forgot to mention to I bought a reloading kit. No dies or anything else yet, and I have no idea what I'm doing. |

View Quote Get a reloading book. Follow it to the letter. I'm serious. Overcharged/wrong-powder incidents can turn firearms into surprisingly effective grenades. I have seen it. |

Funny story.....
Each of my kids takes care of certain things on the farm as part of their "job". One of my daughters is responsible for the rabbits. She's got a rough and tumble history with behaving and making bad grades, etc. She's a wild child. Earlier this year we had a 'come to Jesus' discussion, and she's turned herself around. Almost on the honor roll, excellent behavior, etc. Recently, I added another rabbit cage, and when I built it, I used too large of wire spacing on the bottom, so the rabbits paws can get sore if they don't have a pad to rest on. Well, my little 13 year old and I sat off to build the rabbit a 'resting pad' out of metal. Of course, I didn't think of the fact that we had to fit the damn resting pad through the cage door. So here I am showing her how to bend the sides over and drill anchor holes, etc, etc. She finally says, "yea that'll work" with this look like she's got this shit figured out. Turns out, she knew the cage door was 7.5x14(or whatever), and was using her calculator and the pythagorean theorem to figure out the maximum width of the metal pad so it would fit through the cage door. Yea, she'll do. The flemish giants are doing well, they've outgrown the NZs now. Had to rebuild the chicken feeder and waterer, but nothing serious there. chickens have been sickly lately, not laying eggs and losing weight, but I think we got that fixed. |
