"Michigan City Rifle Club has received information regarding the La Porte County Board of Commissioners meeting that will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 6:00 pm.  One of the New Business topics on this weeks agenda is to"Consider Ordinance 2017-4B Prohibiting the Discharge of a Firearm Within 1,000 Feet of a Residential Dwelling Within the Unincorporated Areas of La Porte County."  Not only does an ordinance of this type have the potential to impact the Rifle Club, but many of our members residences, as well. Unincorporated La Porte County includes all County taxpayers that are not considered a City or Town.  Locally, the City of Michigan City and Trail Creek would not be included, but all others County properties would be."

This would close down the rifle club and effectively ban people from shooting in their backyards. I can't even begin to believe something like this is being proposed here.

It's been promised to not even be brought up for a vote. The issue is irresponsible shooters around the ever increasing subdivisions. However I strongly suspect that Michael Bloomberg's Every town anti-gun money has found it's way into Indiana. If that is true then this is the start of it and will be coming to other counties soon. Keep your eyes and ears open for Bloomberg's financial influence to infringe upon our rights and lifestyles.

I went last night and there was a lot of people there speaking out. They really let the commissioners have it. They claim they do not know how it got on their agenda, or who even sponsored it. They claimed that there wasn't even a draft of the ordinance, but then later their lawyer claimed the ordinance had a provision in it for self defense. Which seemed odd/untruthful because how does a non-existant draft have any provision in it? For now this has been laid to rest, but considering how this disaster was narrowly averted it would be wise for the people to pay close attention to what commissioners are up to.

I heard this on the radio the other day.  It would affect ranges and sportsman's clubs, as well as prevent police from practicing on their ranges.

They just prompted a large group of people to pay closer attention to their actions. Probably won't do them any favors.

They're at it again!  This time it's a noise ordinance that's so vague it could honestly allow a neighbor to say your lawn mower is too loud. The hearing is this Wednesday night at the county complex at 6 pm.
