From someone who attended yesterday's NRC meeting:

"High power rifle was discussed at last week's Advisory Council meeting. Consensus is that it is largely a social issue. All comments are being reviewed. Pat Early stated he read all 1900 comments and more were pouring in. As of now the rate is 50-50 to 60-40 and is clearly a devisive issue. The public hearings likely will be in March. 3 people showed up for the meeting. 1 commented for, 1 commented against, and the Council itself made no recommendation.”

Somewhere along the way of following this, I "subscribed" to the DNR website. Last night I received an email from them stating that the "rifle" proposal had made the cut at this point in time.  The mail made it sound like some of the proposals had been cut due to the ongoing comment period. The comment period is open through sometime in March, so let's keep the pressure on.

Didn't get to go to the meetings this month (full time job and 9 credit hours of school), anyone go and have a rundown of the general feelings towards this proposal?  The suspense is killing me!

Just saw the report for the May 19th on the rifle proposal Dept of F&W recommend not passing it due to negative responses by the hunting community. It seems old myths die hard.

So, it looks like I will keep my Blackout as a pistol.

If some one ever asks what a fudd is, point them to all the idiots that complained about rifle hunting.

In honor of the ignorance I'm thinking gun season this fall will be exclusively my XP in 260, or Encore handguns in 6mmRem and 30-06.

I sold my unfired 300 BLK pistol upper as soon as I heard of this proposal this past summer and bought a 16" 6.8 SPC upper to replace it with. It had better pass.

We don't know yet for sure; but this doesn't help the cause any.

I was just so frustrated when I wrote that this morning, of course I wont be using if its not legal. Back to the ole 11-87

Well son of a bitch. The 6.8 I am building right now won't be able to be used for deer if it gets officially shut down. Guess I will just go back to the 458 to hunt with.

Some of us 'jumped the gun' so to speak and acquired new (to us) firearms that are legal for deer under the rule change.  You know very well that many others would have done the same thing, thus generating a significant economic impact through purchases of new rifles, scopes, and ammo.  Now, it appears the rule change is a non-starter.  LGS's and others can kiss the profits good-bye.  And the politicians are always talking about improving the economy.  All it took here was a simple majority vote by an appointed board and they can't get it done.

Fuck the Low-Information voters hunters!

I've heard it is very possible this will be revisited with some kind of restriction- mag limit or no semiauto's or some such thing (which is BS); nothing specific about that yet. No doubt those that are too thickheaded to understand reality were the demise this time. People run on fear and emotion - even in our community.

HPR proposal withdrawn. The chicken littles got their way. In some ways this is a backwards State.

I heard on the radio today it was withdrawn more for lack of interest than safety concerns...

Even the 22 cal restriction is ridiculous.
