I was born and grew up in MD but moved to SC in the early 90's. My family still lives in MD and I drive back to visit them periodically. My questions is, what are the odds of getting approved for a non-resident CWP in MD? I currently possess a valid SC CWP and SC has reciprocity with NC, VA and W. VA (all the states I travel through when going to visit family in MD). Obviously MD doesn't have reciprocity with SC (or anyone for that matter) so I have to make special accommodations while traveling when we hit the MD state line. Do you have any advice/tips I should know about when pursuing this CWP or am I wasting my time?

Thanks in advance.

very slim, well closer to none at all
unless you can show good and substantial reason
there is a list on the states web page

Thanks.

I guess the "good and substantial reason" is left so vague so the "powers that be" have room for denying, huh?

If it weren't for my family still living there, I'd never go back to MD.

I have yet to hear of any "good or substantial reason" that got approved. It would be easier from a legal fight standpoint if MD had simply outlawed CCW to begin with.
