Recently bought a truck (2000 Frontier).  Once we got to crawling underneath we found rust through on the frame on the passenger side.  I need a good shop that can fix this.

I talked to one body shop and they wanted to replace the entire frame ($4K for the frame alone - let alone the work to move the components).  I'm hoping you guys might know a shop that is into vehicle restoration that could find a more cost effective solution.  I know it won't be cheap - but starting at $4k is a bit much for my pocket book.

You're experience was right on the money.  We got the truck to my friend who was a Nissan mechanic and runs his own shop now.   Once on the lift we could see more rust issue that were not readily available.  He also found a transmission & mount issue.

We left the shop knowing the vehicle was not economically repairable.  Stopped to put some gas in it, and found out there was a hole in the top of the tank (we were filling it and the gas started pouring out at one point).  The hole was not visible from underneath.

I let the boy drive it on temp tags till we found a replacement, then we donated the vehicle (with full disclosure on the issues) the place said they can auction the vehicle for parts.

We ended up going to VA to buy another Frontier from a dealer.  That was 25 days ago - still waiting on the state of VA to send the title , we have the MD inspection finished!.

Here is MiniMe with his new truck.  He's finally learned to drive the 5 speed (I had fun for a couple weeks driving it to work as the boy was not yet competent with a manual, he had my XJ for the time)
