I've been told from various sources that you cannot form 1 a SBR in MD because MD state police will not sign off on it. Is this true?

If its true, can I skip the CLEO requirement by going through a trust and doing it this way?

Little bit late getting into the stamp collecting game, and would like to have an SBR. If not I'll have to wait the few years until I can move

I think ATF is still trying to figure out if this is a go or no go in MD, even with a trust.

Unfortunately the new law is so poorly worded that the ATF cannot figure out what is legal and what is not. Form 1's and 4's have been approved one month and then disapproved for an identical gun later.

If you want a short-barreled AR15, I would say that your best bet is to get an HBAR of some kind, since there's a specific exemption for those. Make sure overall length is over 29 inches.

I had an eForm 1 approved around August last year.  Only took 21 days.

29.5" OAL, shorter will likely get disapproved.

Would that be measured with the stock fully extended?

Per a big thread on MDShooters it sounds like all SBRs have been denied (and others placed on hold) while the ATF and MSP get on the same page.  This started happening in Dec 2014 or so.  To be clear, the ATF is denying at their end.

CLEOs are still signing off as far as I know.

But yeah, Trust and e-file is the way to go.

per mdshooters, apparently the atf is once again approving SBR's as long as they meet the 29 inch requirment

I just saw that!  Sweet!

Can you confirm that your lower needs to be on the Approved Handgun Roster?

I know Noveske N4 is there right now, but Aero Precision is not.  That means you cannot SBR an AP lower???

considering the number of approved SBR's not on the roster, I don't think that its an issue. I am pretty sure that is more of a FFL thing than an individual thing

submit your form 1, call it 30 inches and be done with it.

Form 1 denied today due to "Maryland Law Assault Weapon."  Overall length was listed as 25", but I'm sure I measured with the stock completely closed so I'll be resubmitting.  Here's hoping that was the issue.

SBRs are once again being OK'd in Md. Form 1 efiles seem to be going about six weeks.
