INTRO TO LANDNAV/WILDERNESS SURVIVAL


Date: Saturday & Sunday November 15 & 16

Time: 9:00AM Saturday, 11/15 - 2:00PM Sunday, 11/16  

Location: Slatington, PA 18080 (specific location and class details will be provided upon registration)

Prerequisites: None

Cost: $175.00 per person (children under the age of 18 & accompanied by an adult – no additional charge).

Course Format: Primitive classroom instruction followed by practical application to include a 3 mile hike.

Course Description: INTRO TO LANDNAV/WILDERNESS SURVIVAL has been designed for the novice with little to no wilderness experience and individuals who already possess a foundational knowledge of the outdoors and seek to enhance their skill set.

This two day class will begin with instruction in land navigation. We will then navigate three miles to our camp site. Once we reach our destination we will cover site selection, shelter building, fire building, equipment selection, wilderness first aid and delve further into land navigation from a tactical perspective.

In the evening students will have the option of relaxing around the campfire or participating in an introduction to patrolling/small unit tactics to include a night hike.

Recommended Equipment: note taking material, backpack/rucksack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, water bottles/bladders (minimum of 6 liters), whistle, compass, fire starter, food that doesn’t require elaborate preparation, footgear adequate for hiking in uneven terrain, sunglasses, watch cap, cold weather clothing & a tent if preferred.
