I'm watching this one closely. Could be interesting....

What if you intend to build a lower into a single-shot rifle like the British build? That would seem to REMOVE the gun from any MD laws covering semi-auto rifles.
And there are uppers made in .50 BMG for the AR lower. What if you attach that to a lower? Single shot. Right? |
|
Breaking from MSP. Lowers ARE legal for sale but as of now they have to be on a 77R.

If anyone is looking for me, I'll be off buying a shit ton of $39 lowers!

Is anybody other than engage selling them yet? I don't really want to drive 2 hours up there, 2 hours back, wait 7 days, and then do it again...
Local FFLs here said no way. |

And I just checked my preferred FFL's facebook, and it turns out he has changed his mind and is selling stripped lowers. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow. |

2A (near 32 and 1) posted on their FB page they have lowers inbound as well.
|

2A in Jessup had a large supply of Anderson lowers(10+), with a few Spikes left.

Just did my paperwork yesterday for two at Keep Shooting. They also have Extreme Machining lowers in stock.

The Extreme Machining lowers after paperwork, MSP, etc. are $70-something OTD.

FFL I did the paperwork at. He cited licensing division. Would this mean that we could have stripped AK lowers shipped in from a manufacturer to our FFL? I've been wondering the same but forgot to ask. It would make sense If you build a pistol or sbr. |

How would you build it so it doesn't fall under the 'banned' list? (https://www.mdsp.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=835OWi-sH2U%3D&tabid=429&mid=1074) #2 on the list "AK-47 in ALL forms" #27 on the list "Avtomat Kalashnikov semiautomatic rifle in any format" (there goes the AK-74s...) and #24 takes out Galil builds #43 takes out the Valmet builds. AR lowers can be sold due to the 'HBAR' clause in #15. So unless you're building an AR HBAR with that AK lower you're SOL. |

So now there is no 77r needed? I haven't heard of this one yet and I've been keeping up with mdshooters to stay up to date.

I'm picking up my stripped lower for a pistol build this Thursday from 2A. I'm planning on picking Mark's brain a little as to what's being allowed right now by MSP.

So, am I legally aloud to buy a striped lower or not? Be it online and sent to an FFL or at an FFL if I can find one that does??? I want to build a precision rifle; BCM ss410, etc, yadda, yadda, but don't want to have to buy an already built HBAR just to strip it down!!!

Curious on this as well. I have an M&P10 and want to get an M&P15 for the wife, preferably a lower and just build it up. Was told all M&Ps are banned due to barrel and lowers can't be sold?

Broadly, any rifle that has two of three characteristics - folding stock, grenade launcher or flash suppressor — is considered an “assault weapon” and now illegal in Maryland. The statute also makes specific pistols, rifles and, shotguns — “or a copy regardless of the producer or manufacturer” — banned in the “Free State.” They are as follows:
