I like The Gun Shack in Mount Airy, but I have been getting into archery with my kids more and more. They have a great archery section.

Neil, the owner is a character, but a nice guy with GREAT prices & interesting background (he was big into Bullseye at one time). He has some kind of FFl to sell his reloaded ammo but did not really have a "store" last I heard. But you can buy from him at shows or possibly arrange pick-up.

OP Please edit and change the name of the Silver Spring store to "Atlantic Guns".
"Atlantic Firearms" is an entirely different company and not located in Silver Spring.

LOL, Al may get a 4, but some of the other guys bring the average WAY down.

I love the Gun Rack. All the guys are pretty cool also. I really like that place.

"Accurate Gun" is really "Accurate Pawn & Tackle". I think you've rated the customer service WAY too high. The store is not consistantly available during it's posted hours and it's posted hours are very inconvienent for people that actually work 9-5 jobs during the week. One time it was open on a sat the man running the place wasn't too happy that people could do 'their business' during the week - yes he was grumbling that people wanted to be there on Sat and drop coin. .

Customer service is hit or miss and depends on who you are
In stock goods are not all that good but "wecan order it for you." is a very commstatementent when someone ask for something.


The one gun store I miss is Accokeek sports that wWaldorfaldorf.

I only dealt with him and his son for my last transaction. Except for the cute blnde and the older lady, I didn' know he had anyone else working for him.

Let’s get the negatives out of the way first…

On Target stinks. They have had the same USP 40 in their case for 4 years. Come on 4 years, it's time to reduce the price to retail not retail plus 200. Glocks are 695 with no NS. The guy behind the counter told me that bushmasters were in demand and used by most of the PD's in the country, so they were hard to find. "Since they are one of the best AR's on the market we carry lots of them in stock". For 1,100 I might ad. The store just needs to close...

Select Fire is the worst. The guy who does the training classes (name excluded out of curtsey) X Navy Seal wanabe and carriers a purple spray painted Glock 17. I call him the butcher, because if you ever have him try to work on your AR or MP-5 he usually scratches it up 9 ways to Sunday. Plus they are just plain rude to customers. It should be noted that Bay Country Guns was the worst, but they are fortunately out of business. I think Larry had down-syndrome, god he was so slow. My CPA also has a better personality. You accounting guys know what I mean.

Duffy’s – Very poor inventory – Want a 1940's Colt 1911 that looks like it was dragged behind a care for 2,500? Or how about a Nazi Lugar with mismatched serial numbers for 3,800? If so than this is the store for you.

Now for something positive…

Continental Arms is average to fair. No real complaints since they revamped their store in Timonium. Prices are a little high.

White Marsh Arms – Average inventory, high prices – similar to Continental arms.

Shooters Discount has the best prices in MD, Limited selection but if you check every few months they usually have new inventory.

The store with the best customer service and range facilities is…

Free State Gun Range – Owners and staff are very nice. Prices are average. Don’t expect a great deal, but actually not bad if you are looking for a new gun. They will also order whatever you like. However, the employee who does the ordering of misc. accessories needs a few lashings. The small parts inventory looks like an airsoft computer commando’s basement after going to a Comicon convention.
