I called my CLEO for lent Township in Chisago County (Chisago county Sherriff Rick Duncan) and asked what were his requirements to sign off for suppressor.  in Chisago county, as long as you have a Permit to Carry or Purchase, he'll sign off.

So, to start this list:

CHISAGO COUNTY:
 1)  Permit to Carry
 2)  Permit to Purchase
 3) (Assume) Trust

Carver County

From my conversation with Sheriff Jim Olson...  "I have signed a number of ATF forms for residents already.  If the legislators approve this I don't have a problem signing them for people who qualify."

That said...  my read is if you have a PTP or PTC and aren't restricted otherwise, you're GTG...

If you have a trust you don't need a cleo signature.
He sounds like he is pretty reasonable about signing off though.

Anyone know what Hennepin County will be like?  I already have a trust, but neighbors and friends are asking if they "need" one for a can.

I tell them they don't, IF the CLEO signs off.  Of course then then ask if he will......

Interested in the response from Dakota. I went with a trust but still nice to know how our sheriff stands.

This just in from Sheriff Tim Leslie of Dakota county...

"I am willing to sign off.  Thanks, Tim"

I'll assume the sign off is for those qualified and not otherwise restricted.  Nothing back from Hennepin county yet...

I suppose that's good news. I just hope he can sign off on a form 1 or 4 faster than he can issue a permit to carry.

You can call the Minneapolis License Investigation Unit and ask for Lieutenant Huffman; she's the one that signs off on NFA forms.

edit: She has signed several SBR forms for me.

I would be very surprised if the Anoka count sheriff had any issue with signing.

Wright won't sign off until Aug 1, but so long as you have a PTC/PTP and don't pop in the check, I was told the Sheriff will sign off on a Form 4 for a suppressor.

Edit - Also if you want to make life easier for them, you can fill out/submit a permit to purchase request at the same time. It's free (I honestly didn't know permits to purchase were free in Wright!), and it will open the door for them to run a background check and make their life easier.

Permits to purchase should be free state wide. It's the permits to carry that cost money.

I could have sworn when I got my first PTP in 05 or 06 it cost like $15...maybe I'm misremembering

If you are a Rice County resident and have a Permit to Purchase/Carry from our county, I will review the form and sign it if you meet the before mentioned items.

And this is why the shall sign language that was bargained away was so crucial.

I TRUST that there are reasonable ways around it.

I personally asked Sheriff Stanek at the last Rep. CD3 convention. He immediately dismissed my request.

I will try the License Investigations in Henn. county. Thank you!

Yes of course, currently we can work around them but the shall sign language should have been non-negotiable.  If the currently proposed ATF changes go through then everyone will need a signature and you probably won't be so nonchalant about it then.
