Any other range fees or costs involved? My wife just threw me for a loop and asked if she could come also. Apparently she has gotten tired of just watching me shoot IDPA this year and wants to get some handgun training so she can get comfortable and shoot with me next year.

There are no other fees, hidden fees, or having to buy handouts etc. FYI, generally most Wives will usually learn to out shoot their husbands in short order. Thanks for the info! I just registered and will be there on Sunday.
Does anyone know someplace that would have a holster for a Glock 17, or 26 in stock? I have my carry holster for my 17 and nothing for the wife. She wants to shoot the 26, but I have a feeling we might end up switching by the end of the day. |

If you're looking for kydex, you could try contacting Raven Concealment. The Glock 17 is covered with a lot of their Quick Ship holsters and would probably arrive in time. You can contact them, let them know about the class, and they might be able to accomodate. Otherwise, try contact Element or Streichers, locally, and see if they can cover you. |

Do you by chance ever offer training to non LEO that is either in a Shoot house or on a Rogers Range?

Husband and wife room barricade protocol for securing children in different rooms during a break in? Maybe sometime in the future. Right now my wife is just worried about coming on Sunday after getting really excited about it when I told her I was going. She doesn't want to be the one to slow the class down. I keep telling her a few hours of professional training will do more for her ability to shoot well than months of standing punching paper with me. See you guys Sunday! |

That is partly what what I am looking for. We plan to move farther North to the Eau Claire area and doing that puts us in close range to Defensive edge. Regardless of the facilities, her getting training from someone other than me is important and makes us both better. In the past I have flown out to stay with family in VA and then go shoot at Blackwater's facility. Shooting indoors day and night and also on a Rogers Range helped me in a big way. I would also like to find that for her after she gets further training but if not, I will just take her there instead. I saw on DE's web site they use a shoot house in MN that is for LEO only. Well, what if 10-20 of us got together to foot the bill for the facility under DE's training as well? If this could be arranged I feel very strongly about it and paying $300-500 each for an 18 hour day on site is worth it. Keep the squad small and run through multiple times. I apologize for the hijack, this was just on my mind this week and I remembered seeing Scully in the past so I looked him up in here to get info or plant a seed of thought. |

We offer a 2 Open Enrollment courses, "Home Defense" and "Urban Tactics-1" that both handle what to do inside buildings. The Urban Tactics course is more popular, as it teaches what to do inside any structure, along with medical training on dealing with trauma. We offer Urban Tactics 2 thru 4, which deal with buildings, vehicles, terrain, and team tactics. Before we take anyone into a shoot house, they will have to put a lot of hours into the fundamentals of working on building tactics on a range in the open air, as this way we can teach and control what is going on, where if there is a ballistic wall between us it is harder to observe, control, teach and critique what people are doing (Crawl, Walk, Run, Sprint).

Damn, saw this too late!!!! I checked my work calendar but cant get the time off. I have been wanting to attend this course again for a long time now.
Sully, I just checked your website calendar. Depending on your class turnout this month, do you foresee doing another Handgun 1 in October?? I would much rather retake your class again vs the other places. Thanks, Flattop |

Are there any decent, reasonable hotels close by? I'm trying to decide if it is worth it to go up SAT night instead of waking up at 0400 on Sunday for the drive.

I stayed at the AmericInn in Princeton for a 2 day class once. Nice place. Otherwise there are a lot of choices in Elk River.

Same as above, I believe I also stayed overnight in Princeton for a 2-day class and found it very reasonable. That was a few years ago though and I don't know what its like now as far as amenities.
