Minnetonka Game and Fish is hosting another 3-gun match put on by the MN3GunGroup, on May 6th.

Set-up starts at 0730 hrs., sign in at 0900 hrs., rounds down range at 1000 hrs.

Five stages involving rifle, shotgun, and pistol. Longest rifle shot will be 200 yrds at this match. No steel core rifle ammo. and no steel shotgun ammo allowed for safety and target longevity reasons. Bring 100 rounds of rifle, pistol, and shotgun ammo along with 10 slugs. You will need slugs at this match. The shotgun ammo should be trap loads in the 7 1/2 to 8 shot variety. (Walmart Federal Value Pack seems to be very popular).

If you have any questions, post them up, I will be monitoring the thread.

Two quick questions:

Is the match open to anyone? I assume it is, but want to be certain before making the trip. I've shot a few matches, but may bring someone who has never shot a 3-gun.

How much is the match fee?

Thanks!

There will be some unique stages on this one. One stage will have two MGM Double Spinner targets, one for handgun and one for shotgun. A quick youtube search might be worth taking a peak at so you have an idea on how to shoot these unique targets.

Hope the match was a good one. For us that couldn't make it, can we get a description of the stages that we missed out on?
Thanks

Our pistol match in Morris went very well, here are a few pics:

It looks like Morris had a good turn out. Good job!

We had 44 shooters brave the weather, and it turned out great because we had one short spot of light rain and the rest of the day was dry.

Stage #1: Starting with handgun loaded and holstered, shotgun loaded with slugs at port arms. Six IPSC paper at 50 yards, one hit each neutralizes. Abandon shotgun emtpy, then run forward to the 20 yard line and engage 25 5" handgun steel plates on stands, while avoiding the four "no-shoot" steel.

Stage #2: Three "3-Gun nation" cardboard targes for rifle at 30 yards, three IPSC paper for handgun at 12 yrds, and 12 shotgun steel (6 on the left, 6 on the right). Shotgun loaded with eight in the tube set on table, handgun loaded and holstered, rifle loaded at port arms. Engage rifle targets with 2 rds each, mandatory reload, re-engage rifle targets with 2 rds each, abandon "empty" rifle, draw handgun and engage handgun targets with 2 rds each, mandatory reload, re-engage three targets with 2 rds each, abandon "empty" handgun, engage 6 shotgun steel, reload any needed rounds to finish the last 6 shotgun steel.

Stage #3: Two MGM Spinner targets at 10 yrds. Stage par time of 60 seconds. Handgun loaded and holstered, shotgun loaded at port arms. Engage shotgun spinner until it fully rotates, abandon shotgun "on safe", draw handgun and engage handgun spinner until it fully rotates. Note: I heard lots of laughing and yelling on tis stage.

Stage #4: Four rifle gong targets at the end of the berm, 18 shotgun steel (9 right and 9 left) along a straight path from the start position to where the rifle is staged (about 20 yrds). Rifle is staged empty with magazine inserted at about the 60 yrds line. Up range about another 25 yrds is where the shooter starts with shotgun loaded at port arms. Engage 18 shotgun steel while moving toward your staged rifle. Abandon empty shotgun in opposite barrel of where your rifle is staged. Pick up your rifle and engage the four rifle gong targets from three different positions from inside a small triangular shaped shooting area. You had to stay inside the shooting area. A center port of the shooting area forced the shooter into a kneeling or rice paddy prone position, the two outside positions forced a hard leaning position to be able to hit all of the targets. This stage turned out to be much harder than it first looked.

Stage #5: Long range rifle stage with two MGM Flash targets at 200, Two flash targets at 150, and a lolli-popper at 100 yrds. Shooting position was starting while seated at a picnic table and engaging all six targets, then from the end of the picnic table re-engage all targets, then from prone on top of the picnic table re-engage all of the targets. Another fun stage that was a little more difficult than it appeared.

Thanks, Brian, sounds like a good day. I would have loved to try that spinner with my handgun.

Our next pistol match is the Sunday after the June 3-gun, so we should be able to do both next month.
