Here is the actual text of the bill:
http://www.lrc.ky.gov/recorddocuments/bill/18RS/BR165/bill.pdf The Democrat representatives from Jefferson Co. have tried this same bill several times before and it has gone nowhere. I expect the results to be the same this year. They couldn't get even a hearing for this bill when the D's were in the majority in the House. Now that the R's are running the show, the chances that they could get it done would be even smaller. The sponsor is Jim Wayne. His bio lists membership in every liberal organization I could think of, and a few I've never heard of. He was a social worker in Jefferson Co. for many years before he opened his own business. In 1999, a Louisville ordinance requiring all concealable weapons be locked up and made inaccessible to minors was invalidated by the Office of the Ky. Attorney General (Ben Chandler was AG then) as violating KRS 82.082 and KRS 65.870. That opinion is OAG 99-10. So, this is not a new idea in Jefferson Co. They have wanted this to be the law for many years, with no success. I don't think they are going to get it this time, either. |

Democrats here want us to become California: lock guns amd ammo in separate safes, no stand your ground or castle doctrine, and definitely no preemption. They should rot in prison for treachery.
