I'm visiting Paducah soon with an eye on maybe getting a job there. Tell me about the Paducah area - what's good, bad, activities available there, etc.
Thanks

Just moved to Paducah, am in the process of fixing up the house, intermixed with looking for work.

Depends on what it is you're looking for, jobwise.  Always see offers for Diesel/HE mechanics and truck drivers, and the river shipping places seem to always be looking for welders, etc.

Is it a nice place to live? Good things to do?

Well, I'm fairly sure the fishing is going to be a hell of a lot better than Arizona..

So far,I'm rather liking it here.  Much more relaxed and pleasant.

Is Paducah a good community? Good people? Looks like I'll be visiting in about a week.
Thanks

I live here. What specifically do you want to know?
Jobs? Depends on your skills.
Things to do?
Got most anything within reason.
As said before, pretty much laid back and a little slower than a big town.
Don't be too excited to see combines going through downtown during harvest.
And don't live within the city limits.

I just want to know if it's a nice place to live. Safe, friendly? Are there good outdoor activities? Good people? Is housing affordable?
Thanks

Another relocation question. Does Kentucky have vehicle safety or emissions inspections?

For residential options around Paducah, what are the preferred areas to look for or avoid?

+1 on not living in the city. If you have kids try Lone Oak or Marshall County.  Lone Oak is closer to new HS and still a nice area. Redland is nice area but farther away from the school. I'm from Marshall Co. originally.

What makes Lone Oak better than Reidland?

Closer to new high school so home sales are better. Homes aren't selling as well in Redland so more people turning to rent out which can be bad. One sister lives in Reidland and other lives in Lone Oak. Seven of nine (Star Trek Voyager) graduated from Lone Oak HS.  Now it's McCracken Co. consolidated.
ETA Reidland is still nice in areas. You could get a good deal on a house.

Thanks, we're looking at Loan Oak. Found a house we like, but need to get stuff organized.

Lone Oak is a pretty decent area, I like it at least.
