Its on again, folks! The date has been set and we're on Kenny's calendar for the 2015 Shoot. Official start time is 0900 EST at Knob Creek Range in West Point, KY,

This year's shoot will be much like last year's, a gathering of folks to meet, greet, and shoot guns. With that in mind there won't be any type of raffle, donation can, etc. again this year. There WILL be a few door prizes so look for the registration and make sure you get your name in the box! This will also be an opportunity for an official ARFCOM goodbye to Aaron Brevard ,aka Kyfortean as most of us knew him, who left this earth recently. Aaron was a strong supporter of the 2nd Ammendment, attended many of the HTF Shoots, and attended the Kentucky CCDW Instructor course with some of us. He will be missed.

Rules and requirements:

First: No Tannerite again this year. Kenny simply can't allow it with a mixed crowd on the main line and with insurance requirements, so if it blows up, leave it at home...unless its a Glock

Second: No shooting positions along the angled portion of the fence. This was a concern with the RSO a couple of years ago. If it doesn't run parallel to the firing line you can't setup there. The RED area is a no-setup area and the BLUE is good to go.



Third: We cannot leave a lot of debris on the range, ie stuffing from plush toys, insulation from appliances, etc. Knob Creek staff has spent too much time picking this stuff up in the past. Glass is still verboten unless its in the form of a car window. We MUST clean up our debris. If it is scrap metal range staff will scoop it up and put it in a dumpster. The rest is up to us. The RSO has final say on targets.

Fourth: Large targets (cars, boats, hot water heaters, refrigerators, etc) must arrive early enough to be placed on the range, by 9am. We cannot hold up KCR customers multiple times placing large targets. KCR personnel will be available to move these items one time so once we get everything moved out that's it for big stuff..

Fifth: Time spent down range during cold times must be kept to a minimum. Photos are nice but make it quick since we can't hold up other customers.

Sixth: Don't shoot targets that are not yours unless they are understood to be "ARFCOM" targets.


Cost: There is no cost to attend this shoot other than the $10 Range Fee paid to KCR. It is open to any AR15.com member (free or paid) and their guests. Please keep in mind that range space is limited when bringing multiple guests. Everyone on the firing line side of the fence MUST check in at the shop and pay up.

Food: Lunch will be provided and will be ready around 12:00. It will consist of standard grill fare (Brats, hot dogs, and single serving chips). Drinks will NOT be provided but are available in the shop.

Camping: Kenny is going to allow free camping once again. He said it will probably be in a different location and not back by Steve's house this time. Details will come later

Target Storage: So far we have one mini van and a boat. If anyone is bringing large targets (cars, boats, appliances, etc) you may drop them off at KCR during the week prior to the shoot. Mark them clearly "AR15.com" or "ARFCOM" and put them neatly in the area right inside the fence on the right hand side of the range entry road before you reach the new bleachers. This is the area where Kenny normally stores vehicles for the Fall MG Shoot.

Chamber Flags: Chamber flags are a KCR requirement and must be used. Chamber flags are available for purchase in the shop.

UPDATE: Sept 17th
CAMPING: Talked to Kenny today to firm everything up. Camping will be allowed in the upper field on the left side of the road when you top the hill. Sort of across the road and in front of Kenny's house. Make sure you're not down range of the trap shooting area.

DOOR PRIZES: Door prizes are here and will be given away in conjunction with lunch. These are for ARFCOM Members, not guests. If you're bringing guests there is plenty of time to get them signed up with a free membership and get them a screen name. To get your name in on the door prize drawing simply write your ARFCOM screen name on a provided 3x5 card and drop it in the ammo can. You must be present to win.

LUNCH: Lunch will consist of Johnsonville brats, John Morrel hot links, Oscar Mayer hotdogs, and a few National Hebrew hotdogs (just in case). We'll also have assorted Frito-lays products. If you have other dietary requirements please plan ahead. Drinks will not be provided.

We'll be easy to spot so just jump in the middle of it. Looking forward to meeting  a new face.

I really don't want to do any raffle/fundraising type of stuff but if you're down with giving Gift Certificates as door prizes that would be AWESOME! Food is ALWAYS welcome.

I hope you can make it and bring the mrs...I've got a new MG she may enjoy, bigger, faster, and drum-fed!

In a way they are reunion shoots. Most of the folks we only see once a year or even once every few years. I think it would be safe to say that 50% of the crowd are returning members who make it out to most of the shoots and the remaining 50% is a combination of those who come out occasionally and brand new folks. Out of all the attendees I'd say there are less than 10 that I see more than once a year. I do wish more of the old folks would come out though.

Just a little post whoring

We would be coming from a few hrs away. What time do things usually wrap up? Anyone going to stay in the area?

There is no official end time. It usually winds down around 3 or 4. In the past there have been after-school dinners, camping, etc but again, there is no real plan for this either. The only real plan is the official start time is 9am and lunch around noon.

Kenny said he'll still allow camping, just not at the old location. Nobody has asked about it up to now so I never followed up with him. I'll get with him and find out where he wants us.
