Hey everyone, I wanted to ask to see if anyone knows of any gunsmiths in KY that do barrel threading? Specifically on a Remington 700. I searched sometime back and couldn't really find any gunsmiths in our state which is a shame. I would like to keep the work near me if at all possible. Let me know guys if you know of anyone that does work like this

THANKS

Near you? Umm...where would that be, exactly?

Heck, I have posted VERY specific descriptions of an area, such as within or around the triangle region of Louisville, Lexington, and Greater Cincinnati, and still watched people make suggestions 100 plus miles from any of that. I was incredibly flexible and people could not make decent suggestions.

Also, if you are in a boarder city/town, wouldn't you be open to services in nearby cities/towns in a neighboring state?

Just saying KY without outlining an area would be problem, unless you have a helicopter. That is asking for trouble. There are significant distances among the areas Greater Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington, Ashland, Paducah, Somerset, Corbin, Pikeville, and so on.

Thank you both for the responses. The reason I say KY is just so to help with maybe finding one close or within an a few hours if I need to drive. I live in Ashland, if that helps. I have done quite a bit of searching and there doesn't seem to be too many larger gunsmiths in KY. I called the one referenced in the second post and am still looking for more. It is looking like I will just have to try a big shop.

Any help guys with a good gunsmith would be appreciated.

Rose Action Sports near Ft Campbell. The owner goes by Guncat here. He's threaded barrels for myself and another member with excellent results.

Member "Guncat" from Rose Action Sports in Hopkinsville does great work and his turn around times tend to be very reasonable too. He threaded an AR barrel for me and I am very pleased with the work. A couple of the local shops send their gunsmithing work to him too.

Thanks guys I am going to give them both a call in the morning and hope for the best. I have called a few different places none have made me feel comfortable that I want to send my rifle to them. Do any of you know if they particularly mess with bolt action guns?

Give Simpson Gun Shop a call: 859-887-4217. Located in Nicholasville.

We spoke with the owner for about 30mins a few weeks ago and he swore up and down by their gunsmith. He said that there is pretty much nothing that his smith can't do.

This guy talked him up pretty good to us and showed off some of his work to us. It's a small store but they can get pretty much anything and will work with you.

My friend is going to have one of his 22's threaded there soon to accept my suppressor.

Other than the talk up I have ZERO experience with the smith.

Yep, at 109 Quinn drive. Right off the bypass in the strip mall.

Jenn and I found it when we were going to Lex. one night when we pulled over to have a smoke. She pulled up right to the front door and we just looked at eachother like "yeah!, a new toy store".

Mark at M&W tool in Lexington is not a gunsmith per se, but one hell of a machinest. I have had him do a few things for me. He does top notch work!
