Some of us are more equal than others

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy bypassed a federal security checkpoint at Bradley International Airport last Nov. 27 while carrying a backpack belonging to his son, Samuel Malloy, through a private corridor to the departure gate area as he and first lady Cathy Malloy saw their son off for a flight.
View Quote

Malloy, in an interview, confirmed the bag was not screened.
View Quote

Internal emails written by one or more Bradley staff members to other airport officials said it was "a violation" of security rules and that "this Governor is not above any law."
View Quote

Asked about the incident, Malloy apologized and said he'd been in a hurry to get his son on the flight because "we were running a little behind."

"It was kind of an absent minded mistake," Malloy said in an interview on Wednesday. "And I am sorry. You know, to cause anybody consternation is not what I was trying to do. I was just trying to see my son off with his mother."

I feel like something needs to be done about this. I feel like if we just let this slide by then we are failing as a citizens of this country. Enough is enough, these people aren't above the law and its time we stop sending the message like its ok by just continuing on with our lives. What can we honestly do about this? This is totally fucked. You know damn well, if the son went through the checkpoint but daddy brought his bag around, there was something in that bag that the rest of us are not allowed to bring on a plane. Gun, knife, drugs; it doesn't even matter.

The fact that the TSA is just turning its cheek is fucking ridiculous, too.

Im fucking sick to death of this shit. Im genuinely disgusted right now and I can feel my blood boiling.

I need to go fishing.

This shit makes me furious. I work in aviation. I am 100 percent certain that if the pilots of that airplane knew that there was a passenger on board with a bag that

had not gone through security they would have lost their shit, he would have been removed from the airplane and not been allowed back on until the bag and

passenger were extensively searched. If it had come to light while airborn he likely would have been restrained and the bag seized, only to be turned over to airport

security and likely police at their destination. You take security very seriously at 30,000 feet, and once that door closes, no bullshit that captain owns your ass.

It's not uncommon at all for me to receive reports that pilots are requesting to be met at the gate to handle a passenger detained in flight.

I'd love to be able to find those pilots and ask them how they feel about this ass hat willfully violating the safety of every other passenger on that airplane.

While that can make senses sometimes it wasn't the governor bypassing TSA, it was his son.  So even those comments are wrong.

Malloy can't run again in 2018.  We have term limits for the Governor's Office in CT.

The only reason Rell got (almost) 10 years is because Roland got booted out, and THEN she got elected twice.

The son didn't bypass TSA, his bag did. It was the Governor who took his son's bag and bypassed the baggage check screening by being escorted around/past the TSA checkpoint. The son went through the TSA security check point. From the OP article:

"Malloy's 23-year-old son went, separately from his parents, through the regular public security checkpoint while carrying no baggage, then caught up to them at the departure gate area. The videos do not show Malloy turning the backpack over to his son – but Malloy said it was at the gate area where his son took the pack from him, and then boarded the plane headed toward his home in Los Angeles after a Thanksgiving visit."

The bag should have gone through the security screening since it wasn't the governor's bag but his son's and it was the son not the governor who was getting on the plane. But as we all know some animals are more equal than others. TSA has written this off as will most Democratic voters.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.  It's not on TSA to arrest, it's on CSP.

Oh but wait... his "intent" was not to commit a crime so he's all good.

We must remember he's in that club now.

What amuses me is how outraged we get over these little things, like bags and emails. Perhaps it's because we know full well the real truth that remains hidden hides piles of innocent bodies as well.

Thats the first I've ever heard of term limits for governor.  Don't get me wrong, I'd love for that to be true, but I'm not sure that's right.

We do? What specific statute limits the governor terms?

Republican Lawmaker Calls For Gubernatorial Term Limits

"Currently, the state’s constitution does not limit how many terms one is allowed to serve as governor."

An amendment to the state constitution was proposed in 2015 but went no where. Not seeing one proposed this year in quick and dirty search.

There should be term limits for all politicians and a way to recall them. As of now the politicians can gerrymander and game the system so they can effectively stay in office for life.

US Attorney opens probe into Gov. Malloys 2014 Election Fundraising

A federal grand jury with the power to subpoena documents and compel testimony is trying to do what state elections regulators could not: Resolve whether the Connecticut Democratic Party and Gov. Dannel P. Malloy broke the law in soliciting contributions from state contractors for his re-election in 2014.

ETA: More corruption in the Malloy administration:

Co-Chair of Democratic Committe, Dannel Malloy, likey to face ethics investigation

Democratic Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy is challenging Republican Michigan Governor Rick Snyder for the title of “most disliked politician in America.” While Snyder thanks the Flint water crisis for his widespread unpopularity, Connecticut’s Ethics Board is debating whether to launch an investigation into Malloy’s administration. Under Malloy’s watch, one of the largest health insurance mergers in United States history—a $48 billion deal—could potentially increase premiums and reduce health care coverage for 53 million people across the country.
