Big weekend coming up is anyone going?
|
|
I usually go but it is looking like it will be somewhere between 435 and 781 degrees out this weekend with 4356% humidity. I no do well with heat like that.
But I Do love me some Lime Rock. |

Hey! Me too. I'm going on Sunday at 1:35. Are you going on Saturday?

Lime Rock and I go way way back into the early 70s. That was when we'd drive our Austin Healys or MGs , tops down, screaming exhaust note echoing between the hills as we ran mostly in 3rd gear cutting corners and just throwing them around. From Enfield, it was all back roads through Barkhamsted and all those twisty hills and curves. Then, if we had time to pack gear, we'd camp in the outfield. Sometimes we'd just throw a tarp over the car and sleep in it. Oh my aching back!
Of course a trip to the park wasn't complete unless you visited the men's room also called "the Wailing Wall" because that's where you peed.......onto a cement wall and the urine went into a trough and out someplace, never figured out where. I've seen cattle barns with more decor. Imagine that place on a really hot summer day. I always was disappointed that they didn't race on Sundays. I guess that was the agreement with the residents. I did get to run my Austin Healy Sprite on that track once. It was a ball especially in the diving turn where you ran out of gear pretty quickly screaming down that straight. Awwwww those were really great days. I even met Paul Newman once. He was in his trailer. I knocked on the door and the fella who answer asked what I wanted. I said my name is Roman PXXXXX" and I'd just like to say hello. Well, he came to the door thinking I was "THE" Roman PXXXXX" and when he saw I wasn't he said have a nice day and that was that. Yes, his eyes were very blue. R |

I went to a Porsche day their years ago. It was awsome. The pits were open and we got to see some cool cars. Twin turbos and about 6 inches of exhaust pipe on some of the 911 looking ones

I go a few times every year. The LeMans-winning Ford GT is more than enough to get me there for this event. The weather might be brutal but it'll be worth it, always a great time.

Gorgeous country out there, I wish the East side was more like it.

Can we buy tickets at the gate?
I may take the ball and chain and lil monster |
|
|
The website say $80 for tickets. Is that to watch the race or to get in the gate

My gay friend Paul was there.
He was last seen in the BMW pits trying to steal some tires and body panels. |
