Someone mentioned doing this and I'm bored so I figured WTF.  Until this past August, I never had a dog in my life.  After seeing mine, I understand a convincing argument can be made that I STILL don't have one but what can you do.

I am a cat guy.  I have four, all rescues, ranging from 10 to 24 pounds (Maine Coon).  I like that they are stone killers.  Little demonic, furry, chainsaws when they want to be.  I like how they move too.

Unfortunately, cats for the most part give not one fuck about you.  Change their litter boxes, give them food and water and hopefully they won't kill you in your sleep.

So my daughter wanted a dog and while I agreed on a rescue, I figured if you are going to have a dog...get a DOG.  (I am seriously Jones-ing for a Bernese Mountain Dog.  As you can see, this ain't it.

So, probably to much abuse, I give you Ch. Gaius Julius Caesar, Victor of Alesia, Conqueror of Gaul.....also known as Bella. Abandoned in the streets of Hartford, don't be fooled by her size or looks.  She'll cut you like you owe her money.  She is four pounds of murderous rage when confronted.  Who the fuck am I kidding.  She kisses everyone and snuggles all day.  From the Hartford Police pound to West Hartford where she gets carried in a bag downtown by my daughter while all the well kept wives go nuts over her.  Dog should play Powerball she's so lucky.

Since I'm going onto my four month of rehab, I must admit she's been great to keep me company and my daughter loves her which at the end of the day is all that matters.

I had a dog when I was a young lad.  I promised to walk it all the time.

My pappy ended up doing most of it

You ever get stuck walking it in one of its outfits?

God no.  I'm with the dog in the house only where she's generally outfit free (barring holidays of course)

Love dog threads.  Conndcj, meds or not you are quite the orator, evidently chose the right profession.  Cute dog and daughter too, best wishes for your recovery.

That vid is hilarious!  My Lizzie came to see what I was laughing so hard about.

Great pics everyone, here's mine.  Southern Black Mouth Cur rescue.  Never heard of the breed until we got her, shipped up from Mississippi.  Evidently well known down south, used for hunting and tracking.  Turns out "Old Yeller" was a cur, didn't know that.  Outstanding family dog.

Much better. We were nervous he had parvo or something on Wednesday because he was losing his appetite, but after yet another $300 round at the vet we found its just Giardia.

I don't want this to sound wrong, but the medecine regiment is actually quite nice. He is still his normal self he just runs out of energy faster. Instead of being gung-ho for 2-4 hours and crashing for an hour, it's like he's two months old again. Gung-ho for one hour then crash for 1-2. Much easier to keep up with.

ETA: He can re-infect himself if he ingests even the tiniest bit of poop. So after every potty break I have to scrape his diahrea out of the grass (which just means scalping the lawn there) and wipe his ass when he comes inside incase he decides to lick it.

The worst part is he can't socialize with other dogs because they can be infected the same way, and since burying their noses in each other's asses is how they shake hands there is just no contact allowed. Poor fucker loves playing with other dogs and it's the best/easiest exercise for him.
