Can I join the cool guy club? I just bought a second Glock. My wife has the first one we bought as her carry piece, a Glock 19. I just bought a Glock 21 Gen 2 made in 1991.

I have 2 questions for the hive:

1. Recommend me a good threaded barrel.

2. What is a good suppressor for .45?

Thanks guys!

I've got 2 storm lake barrels. 1 for my g19 and the other for my 1911. Both are great. And I've got a tirant 45 can. Use it on both as well.

I have been very happy with my Lone Wolf barrels
I haven't used Storm Lake but have heard good things about them.

ETA: congrats on bringing in a preban

Even if I don't keep it long I figure bringing in another pre ban is good. I am more of a 1911 guy but I do dig shooting my wife's 19.

Wow they are expensive. Nearly double anyone else. Have you used them?

I have used BarSto in 1911s.  Along with Kart and Schuemann they are the best around.  For Glocks, I know of a unit that uses KKMs and love them.  Excellent barrels.

I had one on order last year and I ended up canceling it because I didn't think I was going to be purchasing a G19.  However, I have recently changed my mine and now I am looking for one.

I don't mind paying for quality but sometimes you are just paying for a name. I bet the Lone Wolf barrel is more accurate than me.

Conndcj I know you get to buy your stuff with taxpayers money so cost is no object for you. but seriously the KKM barrels look good and pricing seems in line. Thanks for the info.

Was going to go with a KKM or Barsto for a G20 conversion barrel (10mm to 40s&w) but read there is no real difference in accuracy or performance even with the cheaper Lone Wolf barrel.

My opinions:

Best 45 Can:

Silencerco Octane 45 HD

$660

Best deal on a 45 can:

AAC tirant 45

$500

Honorable mention:

Silencerco Osprey 45.  $680

Cav I think so too.

Thanks for the barrel info. I need to buy a suppressor and then wait for the stamp. I have plenty of time to find a deal. Maybe there will be a Black Friday deal on barrels.

On the topic of Gen 2's:

Besides being preban, do any of you prefer Gen 2's in general?

I saw that a website (who doesn't deliver here) has police trade in Gen 2 G17's for $330.

I love the Gen 2's lack of finger grips (the stock Gen 3 grooves don't work well with my hands), but it's offset by the lack of a light rail.

Awesome thanks. Since my suppresor is months away from coming home I have time. I was thinking of buying a factory Glock barrel.

If you reload (or plan to), I would heavily consider after market. The Glock polygonal rifling and unsupported chamber will limit your options on bullets and loads.

This is good to know. I plan to start reloading 45. I have everything just need to sit down and do it. So what aftermarket barrel do you like for this?

I bought an Octane 45 and Storm Lake black barrel today from Delta.

I want to support businesses that are local as much as possible. I could save a few bucks buying from Quiet Riot or Silencer shop but not as much as it appears you would at first. By the time you pay transfer fees and shipping you are close to what a local shop charges. Plus when buying out of state there is extra wait time, I think. I have bought 2 cans, 2 handguns, a ton of other smaller items, sent a few friends there, had some gunsmithing done and transferred 10 or 12 other guns through them. This loyalty paid off as they "took care of me".
