Yes zone 1 for moose.
Actually I'm not the winner.
My third hunt 3 years in a row. But I'm always the sub-permitee.
My crew has been insanely lucky.

Good luck to you too!!  I may do some bear hunting as well, if the moose hunt is done quickly.
I know people up there that have been baiting. Around Town of Van Buran

I really want to start hunting this year (bow, rifle, shotgun). Where do they hold classes to get the license?

Link Posted: 8/26/2014 10:58:02 PM EDT
[#10]
Check out CT DEP site. (And keep checking the site.) They have the classes listed but may be full.
Also sometime private hunting clubs do classes. If you know people that belong, ask them if any classes are coming up and sign up.

Get in now. They seem to drop off after September and are hard to find due to it being hunting season. Bow is a seperate licence to firearm hunting so it's a sperate class

Hoping to get out on my brothers 46 acres. My son asks me at least once a week if we can go hunting for coyotes, deer or bears. It's fun to try and explain the hunting laws and rules to a 6 year old. Hope he's sitting next to me in my stand at my brothers!

Granby. My other brother has 106 in hartland, but he's a POS! We don't speak to each other.

FYI.. I did online course valid in NY last year that took care of one day and then did a follow up one day in person in NY.  May do the same thing (online + 1 day class) for Bow.

So after an insanely hard week of hunting I tagged out on the final day. I passed up 5 smaller bear in hopes of seeing a big bruin and there was no disappointment . 340 dressed so around 385-400+ live weight. Couldn't be happier with such and amazing animal

Funny part is the bullet didn't go through . It got stuck between the body and the skin . Didn't make an exit hole in he hide at all. Pretty wild an animal can stop a bullet

Why does it look like a through and through then? Also, it looks like the flesh is pushed out, away from the wound cavity.

Kind of hard to tell but i think you see fat instead of another hole on the other side. I should have taken the pic of the bullet lodged in the skin in its back. I shot it in the chest from the ground . The hole is about 3 inches from its sternum

I know what you mean. Took me only 4 months to get around to doing my rear brakes and new rear install. Still putting off the fronts, master, and new lines.

Anyway, that bear should keep you and the family fed for some time!

Hide is at the taxidermist getting a half body mount. I'm still butchering it now. Did 2 quarters so far. Back straps are steaked up and tenderloins have been eaten and pooped out already
